  1. 11. Effect of metal and cubic carbide additions on interface chemistry, phase composition and grain growth in WC-Co based cemented carbides

    Författare :Jonathan Weidow; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; APT; TEM; EBSD; SEM; EDX;

    Sammanfattning : A cemented carbide is a composite material used in metal cutting operations. A hardness providing WC-based skeleton is embedded in a toughness providing binder, mainly consisting of Co. The material is produced by powder metallurgical methods. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Microstructure Development of WC-Co Based Cemented Carbides During Creep Testing

    Författare :Mohamed Amine Yousfi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plastic deformation; TEM; APT; EBSD; WC grain growth.; Cr segregation;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this work is to understand the mechanisms behind the plastic deformation of WC‐Co based cemented carbides. The microstructure of two series with different WC grain size was investigated before and after creep deformation using quantitative microscopy, atom probe tomography, and transmission electron microscopy. 3. 13. Microstructure Investigation of the Oxidation Process in Zircaloy-2 - The Effect of Intermetallic Particle Size

    Författare :Pia Tejland; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Zircaloy-2; STEM; HAADF; ADF; FIB; SEM; EDX; APT;

    Sammanfattning : Zirconium alloys are widely used in nuclear reactors as fuel cladding tubes because of their low thermal neutron capture cross-section, good corrosion properties and satisfactory mechanical properties. With an improved corrosion resistance the alloys could be used for much longer times in the reactors, increasing fuel burn-up and decreasing the amount of radioactive waste. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Carbides in martensitic medium carbon low alloyed tool steels studied with small angle scattering techniques, electron microscopy and atom probe tomography

    Författare :Erik Claesson; Peter Hedström; Hans Magnusson; Erik Offerman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Low alloyed tool steel; Martensite; Small angle scattering; Scanning transmission electron microscopy; Energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy; atom probe tomography; Scanning precession electron diffraction; Precipitation; carbides; Tempering.; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Medium carbon low alloyed tool steels are used today in various areas to shape plastics, nonferrous metals, and steels, and they are crucial in the manufacturing industry. To be effective, tool steels must be strong and tough, and have high wear resistance and temperature stability. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Microstructure of a cubic boron nitride tool material and its degradation during hard turning operations

    Författare :Jenny Angseryd; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EDX; adherent layer; cBN; PCBN; SEM; TEM; EELS and APT; wear; EFTEM;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract. Polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) materials are widely used in turning operations of hardened steels due to their beneficial mechanical properties like maintained high hardness at elevated temperatures, adequate toughness and for being more chemically stable towards iron compared to diamond at temperatures typical for turning operations.
