  1. 11. A Molecular view of inital Atmospheric Corrosion : In situ surface studies of zinc based on vibrational spectroscopy

    Författare :Jonas Hedberg; Christofer Leygraf; Geiger Franz; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Atmospheric corrosion; zinc; vibrational spectroscopy; formic acid; acetic acid; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Atmospheric corrosion takes place on most metals as they interact with thesurrounding environment. A degradation of the metal is the common result,which often leads to a shortened lifespan of the material. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Improved data analysis methods for the millimetre-wave observation of strato-mesospheric ozone and winds over Northern Sweden

    Författare :Rita Edit Kajtar; Mathias Milz; Uwe Raffalski; Victoria Barabash; Eliane Maillard Baras; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Atmospheric science; Atmosfärsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis analyses and discusses the work done to improve an ozone retrieval method. The newly implemented method aims to invert emission spectra measured with the millimetre-wave radiometers KIMRA and MIRA2 at the Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF) in Kiruna. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Microphysical Properties of Snow Crystals Using Ground-Based In-Situ Instrumentation : Hunting Snowflakes

    Författare :Sandra Vázquez Martín; Thomas Kuhn; Salomon Eliasson; Sandra Yuter; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Atmosfärsvetenskap; Atmospheric science;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding what happens to hydrometeors, such as atmospheric snow particles (ice crystals, snow crystals, and snowflakes) in clouds is crucial for improving meteorolog-ical forecast and climate models. Consequently, improved predictions of the precipitation amount reaching the ground (snowfall) require accurate knowledge of the microphysical properties of ice crystals, such as their size, cross-sectional area, shape, fall speed, and mass. 4. 14. Analysis of Arctic ice cloud properties using in-situ and remote sensing measurements

    Författare :Veronika Wolf; Thomas Kuhn; Peter Völger; Martin Gallagher; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic cirrus clouds; ice particle properties; in-situ measurements; in-situ and lidar comparison; Atmospheric science; Atmosfärsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Cirrus clouds play an important role in the radiation balance of the atmosphere as theycan have a warming and cooling effect. The resulting net radiation effect depends ontheir micro- and macrophysical properties such as particle size, shape, and numberconcentration. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Atmospheric Species and Spectral Radiation in Terrestrial Exoplanets : Implications for Astrobiology

    Författare :Samuel Konatham; Javier Martin-Torres; María-Paz Zorzano Mier; Akos Kereszturi; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Exoplanets; Atmospheres; Habitability; Human vision; Scotopic vision; Photopic vision; Spectral radaition; Atmosfärsvetenskap; Atmospheric science;

    Sammanfattning : The physical properties of the planets and their parent stars are fundamental in the composition of atmospheres and radiative environments, which fundamentally determine their surface temperature and habitability. The atmospheric composition and radiation play a vital role in the emergence of life. LÄS MER
