  1. 6. Harm, Benefit, and Non-Identity

    Författare :Per Algander; Jens Johansson; Gustaf Arrhenius; Ben Bradley; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; harm; benefit; population ethics; person affecting view; asymmetry; well-being; reasons; autonomy; Praktisk filosofi; Practical Philosophy;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis in an invistigation into the concept of "harm" and its moral relevance. A common view is that an analysis of harm should include a counterfactual condition: an act harms a person iff it makes that person worse off. A common objection to the moral relevance of harm, thus understood, is the non-identity problem. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Geometric Models of Similarity

    Författare :Mikael Johannesson; Kognitionsvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; symmetry; similarity; separable dimensions; prominence; multidimensional scaling; Minkowski metric; machine learning; integral dimensions; familiarity; geometric models; distance metric; asymmetry; conceptual spaces; Computer science; numerical analysis; systems; control; Datalogi; numerisk analys; system; kontroll; Geometry; algebraic topology; Geometri; algebraisk topologi;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation examines and discusses some phenomena related to the geometric representation of similarity. It takes its inspiration from the existing body of empirical research within the fields of perceptual and cognitive psychology, but also connects to certain areas of machine learning. LÄS MER

  3. 8. PROFESSION OCH EXISTENS : En hermeneutisk studie av asymmetri och ömsesidighet i sjuksköterskors möten med svårt sjuka patienter

    Sammanfattning : Profession and Existence. A Hermeneutical Study of Asymmetry and Reciprocity in Nurses Encounters with Severely Ill PatientsThe purpose of this study is to investigate how nurses constitute themselves in encounters with severely ill suffering patients. LÄS MER

  4. 9. The Psychoanalytic Situation as a Play Situation: Exploration of a multi-faceted clinical situation

    Författare :Rolf Künstlicher; Arvid Löfberg; Peter Fonagy; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Asymmetry; Play; Psychoanalytic Method; Psychoanalytic Situation; Symbolic Room; Repetition Compulsion; Third area; Education; Pedagogik; pedagogik; Education;

    Sammanfattning : The research question was stirred by observations that the set-up of the clinical situation seems to contain elements that have a deep impact on the patient. I found that the clinical situation shows important similarities to the space for play that children negotiate when they want to immerse themselves in mutual phantasy play. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Catanionic Surfactant Mixtures and Binary Systems of Modified Fatty Acid Surfactants. Phase Equilibria and Structure

    Författare :Malin Bydén Sjöbom; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; coacervation; asymmetry; bile salt; didodecyldimethylammonium bromide; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; catanionic surfactant mixture; intermediate phase; a-methylsubstituted sodium carboxylate; dodecylpyridinium bromide; ionic surfactant; polarizing microscopy; FT-PGSE self-diffusion; 2H NMR; SAXS; liquid crystal; micelle; phase equilibria; phase diagram;

    Sammanfattning : Surfactant self-assembly is an important phenomenon that occurs in a number of processes in our everyday life. It is important to understand the forces and parameters that control and influence the self-assembly, as this knowledge can be used both in order to design surfactant systems with desired properties and for creating model systems, for example for biological processes.
