  1. 11. Monoamine transporters in female human reproduction

    Författare :Barbara Bottalico; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PMAT; VMAT2; OCT; NET; in-situ hybridization histochemistry; decidualization; human endometrium; placenta; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Monoamine transporters; preeclampsia; histamine; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Sammanfattning : The present study explored the gene and protein expression of the monoamine transporters in human endometrium throughout the menstrual cycle, in early decidua and in placentas from normal as well as preeclamptic pregnancies using in-situ hybridization, real time-PCR, immunohistochemistry and primary tissue cultures. Four distinguishable patterns were observed in the endometrium over the menstrual cycle: (1) epithelial expression of norepinephrine transporter (NET) mRNA, (2) Stromal co- expression of vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) and plasma membrane monoamine transporter (PMAT) mRNAs with maximal intensity in the proliferative phase; (3) increasing epithelial expression of VMAT2 mRNA with a maximum in the late secretory phase; (4) stromal expression of extra-neuronal monoamine transporter (EMT) mRNA with a peak in the early secretory phase. 2. 12. Assisted reproduction technology in men with ejaculatory dysfunction with special reference to spinal cord injury

    Författare :Claes Hultling; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Men afflicted by spinal cord injury (SCI), myelomeningocele (MMC) and testicular cancer (TC) with retroperitoneal lymph-node dissection (RPLND) share the problem of infertility due mainly, but not exclusively, to neurologic impairment. This problem has historically been neglected, partly due to lack of effective treatment, partly due to lack of appreciation of the importance of sexual and procreational issues for rehabilitation outcomes and quality of life. 3. 13. Gene mapping of reproduction traits in dairy cattle

    Författare :Johanna Karolina Höglund; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis my aims were to map genes affecting reproduction in cattle and to explore the correlated effect of these genes on yield traits. This knowledge is expected to provide novel insights into the biological processes underlying reproduction traits and to identify individual causal polymorphisms or genetic markers for practical application in marker-assisted and genomic selection strategies. 4. 14. Antimicrobial resistance of the microbiota in the reproductive tract of horses in conjunction with assisted reproduction

    Författare :Pongpreecha Malaluang; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Antimicrobial resistance is a global challenge exacerbated by antibiotic misuse and inadequate infection control. This study explores the effects of antibiotics in semen extenders on the vaginal bacteria of the mare and investigates the separation of spermatozoa from bacteria in seminal plasma as an alternative to adding antibiotics to semen extenders. 5. 15. Acupuncture in reproductive medicine. Applications in human assisted reproduction and aspects of clinical and experimental neuroendocrinology

    Författare :Elisabet Stener-Victorin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; electro-acupuncture; blood flow impedance; circulation; uterine artery; in-vitro fertilization; oocyte aspiration; polycystic ovary syndrome; experimentally induced PCO; anovulation; gonadotropins; steroids; neuropeptides; b-endorphin; nerve growth factor; corticotropin-releasing factor.;

    Sammanfattning : The use of acupuncture in the area of reproductive medicine is relatively new, and it has been rather poorly investigated in the past. When muscle afferents are stimulated by acupuncture in somatic segments related to the innervation of the ovaries and the uterus, functional changes occur in the neural substrate that may influence reproductive function and result in peripheral, segmental and central effects.
