11. Natural Intelligence in Artificial Creatures
Sammanfattning : What mechanisms are needed in a cognitive system, such as an animal or a robot, and how do these mechanisms interact with each other? The thesis presents a study of this problem within the field of behavior-based systems and artificial neural networks. The thesis brings together ideas from behavior-based robotics, control theory and machine learning and combines them with models from ethology, psychology and neurobiology in an attempt to synthesize a complete, artificial nervous system for a simulated artificial creature. 12. Rough surfaces in contact : artificial intelligence and boundary lubrication
Sammanfattning : Interacting surfaces are found in mechanical systems and components. Since engineered surfaces are not perfectly smooth, only a fraction of the nominal surface area is actually in contact. This fraction is denoted as the real area of contact, Ar, and is formed by the sum of the contact spots between the two touching surfaces. LÄS MER
13. Creating market knowledge from big data: Artificial intelligence and human resources
Sammanfattning : The abundance of social media use and the rise of the Internet-of-Things (IoT) has given rise to big data which offer great potential for enhanced market knowledge for marketers. In the literature, market knowledge has been associated with positive marketing performance. LÄS MER

15. Artificial Intelligence for Monitoring and Diagnosis of Robotic Spacecraft
Sammanfattning : In this thesis the application of artificial intelligence to monitoring and diagnosis of robotic spacecraft is discussed. Several software prototype systems were developed to serve as testbeds for the research and to evaluate the effectiveness of the approach against real problems and current techniques used in NASA's planetary exploration program.
