  1. 1. Arterial mechanics : noninvasive identification of constitutive parameters and residual stress

    Författare :Jonas Stålhand; Gerhard A. Holzapfel; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the mechanical modelling of arteries, and particularly a method to identify parameters describing the mechanical properties using only clinically obtainable in vivo measurements. The artery is modelled as a fibre reinforced, incompressible, thick-walled cylinder subjected to large deformations and a residual stress field. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Ultrasonic Methods for 2D Arterial Wall Movement Measurements

    Författare :Magnus Cinthio; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tissue Doppler imaging; Cardiovascular system; Diagnostik; Diagnostics; Kardiovaskulära systemet; arteries; ultrasound; shear stress; axial movement; radial movement; Arterial distension; Arterial lumen diameter; PWV; Arterial longitudinal movement; pulse-wave velocity;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular diseases constitute the major cause of morbidity and mortality in the Western World. To increase our knowledge of cardiovascular diseases, it is important to find methods, preferably non-invasive ones, to study very early manifestations of vascular disease. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Quantification of Arterial Wall with MRI and Image Processing

    Författare :Mari Hänni; Torbjörn Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; image processing; Magnetic resonance imaging; animal model; arterial wall; Radiologisk forskning; atherosclerosis; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning; Diagnostisk radiologi; Diagnostic Radiology;

    Sammanfattning : Quantification of atherosclerosis in vivo in animal models is of great importance when treatments against atherosclerosis are evaluated. In the studies presented in this thesis a non-invasive method combining MRI and image processing is evaluated. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Vessel wall integrity : influence of genetics and flow

    Författare :Hanna Björck; Toste Länne; Per Eriksson; Sverker Jern; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the major cause of death worldwide. Underlying causes, such as atherosclerosis and hypertension, are associated with remodeling of the vessel wall ultimately leading to loss of structural integrity. There are a number of factors that can influence vascular remodeling and hence structural integrity. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Aspects on wall properties of the brachial artery in man : with special reference to SLE and insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus

    Författare :Niclas Bjarnegård; Toste Länne; Reinhard Volkmann; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Arterial wall; atherosclerotic; brachial artery BA ; type 1 diabetes; ulse wave velocity PWV ; pulse wave analysis PWA ; intima-media thickness IMT ; nitrate mediated dilatation NMD ; Diabetology; Diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : The mechanical properties of the arterial wall are of great importance for blood pressure regulation and cardiac load. With increasing age, large arteries are affected by increased wall stiffness. LÄS MER
