1. Aspects on arterial dimensions with special reference to aneurysmal disease
Sammanfattning : The incidence of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) is increasing. The risk of rupture is related to diameter. However, rupture may occur also in small AAA. To evaluate the size of an aneurysm when related to the predicted normal aortic diameter might be a better predictor of risk. LÄS MER
2. Computer Aided Angioplasty : Patient-specific arterial modeling and smooth 3D contact analysis of the stent-balloon-artery interaction
Sammanfattning : Paper A: In this paper, the development and implementation of a contact algorithm based on C2-continuous surface representations is discussed. In 3D contact simulations involving models with arbitrarily curved surfaces (as in the case of vessel walls), the discretization of the contact surfaces by means of facet-based techniques could lead to numerical instabilities and finally loss of quadratic convergence. 3. Surgical treatment of left main coronary artery stenosis
Sammanfattning : Clinical experience and follow-up of patients operated on with surgical arterial patch angioplasty of the left main coronary artery (LMCA) and observational retrospective studies in patients with LMCA obstruction who had undergone coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) are reported. Patients: Forty-three patients were operated on with LMCA angioplasty during 1997 - 2003. LÄS MER
4. Long-term cardiovascular follow-up after preterm birth
Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. A large number of studies show that the risk of cardiovascular disease is increased in people born with low birth weight. LÄS MER
5. FRC in acute lung injury. Experimental and clinical studies
Sammanfattning : Respiratory failure due to acute lung injury (ALI) of diffuse inflammatory origin is a major cause of respiratory failure treated in intensive care units. In ALI, FRC is reduced by various mechanisms associated with hypoxemia and consolidation of the lung. LÄS MER
