    Sammanfattning : The starting point of the thesis consists of a number of statements by prominent representatives of the cultural elite characterising architecture with references to classicism as the modern architecture. In the following years Swedish architecture was dominated by references to classical historical architecture focussing on the ideal of simplicity, which in turn formed a wider conceptual framework of ideas and ideals for architectural creation.     Sammanfattning : The aim of this work is to illuminate the history of restoration in 20th century Sweden by studying restorations of medieval Uppland churches, in the hope of highlighting the debate and conflicts surrounding the ideologies forming the framework of church restorations and identifying the crucial considerations. It is an attempt to depicting church restorations with the focus of attention on the function of the church interior, but also on ways of achieving a credible design appropriate to the present.     Sammanfattning : At the onset of the 1970s Swedish architecture showed noticeable signs of crisis, with failing confidence in architects and a general distrust in the future of architecture.     Sammanfattning : The 1970s in Sweden saw a distinct change of attitude concerning colour inarchitecture, from strong primary colours, grey concrete and brick at the beginning of the decade to a lighter, more nuanced palette of pink and yellow towards the end of it. From being a significant token in a broader popular movement with commercial overtones, colour, as the decade went on, increasingly demanded a professional approach. LÄS MER
