1. Varför undervisning i matematik? : argument för matematik i grundskolan - i läroplaner, läroplansdebatt och hos blivande lärare
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to investigate, describe and analyse the justification and the goals of mathematics education in compulsory school in Sweden. The focus here is on student teachers and their conceptions of why mathematics should be taught in school. LÄS MER
2. Automorphic string amplitudes
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the non-perturbative properties of higher derivative interactions appearing in the low-energy expansion of four-graviton scattering amplitudes in toroidal compactifications of type IIB string theory. We summarise the arguments for finding such higher derivative corrections in terms of automorphic forms using U-duality, supersymmetry and string perturbation theory. LÄS MER
3. "Vad skulle x kunna vara?" : andragradsekvation och andragradsfunktion som objekt för lärande
Sammanfattning : Algebraic equations and functions play an important role in various mathematical topics, including algebra, trigonometry, linear programming and calculus. Accordingly, various documents, such as the most recent Swedish curriculum (Lpf 94) for upper secondary school and the course syllabi in mathematics, specify what the students should learn in Mathematics Course B. 5. Homogenization of reaction-diffusion problems with nonlinear drift in thin structures
Sammanfattning : We study the question of periodic homogenization of a variably scaled reaction-diffusion equation with non-linear drift of polynomial type. The non-linear drift was derived as hydrodynamic limit of a totally asymmetric simple exclusion process (TASEP) for a population of interacting particles crossing a domain with obstacle. LÄS MER
