1. Organometallic complexes with antimalarial properties
Sammanfattning : Malaria is a serious disease that causes around 800 000 deaths per year. Current malaria control efforts are hampered by the widespread resistance to common antimalarial drugs, such as the 4-aminoquinoline derivative called chloroquine. LÄS MER
2. Arene Iron Complexes in Organic Synthesis. New Routes to Benzophenones, Diaryl Selenides, Xanthones and Thioxanthones
Sammanfattning : A multi-step route to unsymmetrically substituted benzophenones based on cationic hapto6-arene-hapto5-cyclopentadienyl iron complexes has been developed. The key features are nucleophilic aromatic substitution reactions performed on hapto6-2-chlorocarbomethoxybenzene-hapto5-cyclopentadienyl iron hexafluorophosphate with phenoxides, followed by intramolecular Friedel-Crafts ring-closure. 3. New Strategies for Transition Metal-mediated (Hetero)arene Functionalization
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes new approaches to achieve efficient and selective (hetero)arene derivatization using transition metals. The main focus falls on the use of strategies based on C–H activation and organo-main group reactivity to render the synthesis of various (hetero)arene derivatives more direct, efficient, regioselective and sustainable. 4. Asymmetric Synthesis and Mechanistic Insights of Transition-Metal-Catalyzed Hydrogenation
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis is focused on asymmetric synthesis and mechanistic insights of hydrogenations catalyzed by Ir-N,P- and Rh-diphosphine complexes. The developed methodologies provide an efficient catalytic system to access optically enriched compounds by exploiting the effect of the N,P ligand structure and investigating the enantioconvergent behavior. 5. Transition Metal-Mediated Selective Functionalizations of Bio-Derived Building Blocks
Sammanfattning : In order to transition to a more sustainable chemical industry, it is necessary to replace the fossil starting materials that are largely used today with renewable ones. Starting materials available from abundant natural sources, or which can be efficiently produced via a biotransformation, are of high interest in this regard. LÄS MER
