16. Selective extraction systems for detection and purification of membrane proteins
Sammanfattning : Increased understanding of membrane proteins is important for characterization of biochemical processes. Improved membrane protein isolation methods is a key issue for effective functional and structural determination of the large amount of unknown membrane proteins. LÄS MER
17. Nucleic Acids: Innovative Methods for Recovery, Clarification and Purification
Sammanfattning : The importance of nucleic acids in pure form for preparative and analytical perspectives, have increased constantly, demanding the development of new and more efficient methods for their recovery and isolation. This thesis describes a series of different innovative methods for recovery and purification of these biomolecules. LÄS MER
18. Regenerable Organochalcogen Antioxidants : An Explorative Study
Sammanfattning : Antioxidants are widely used to protect organic materials from damages caused by autoxidation, an oxidation process that occurs under normal aerobic conditions. In this thesis, novel multifunctional organoselenium and organotellurium antioxidants were designed, synthesized, and evaluated in search for compounds with better radical-trapping capacity, regenerability, and hydroperoxide-decomposing ability. 19. A comparative study on sugar beet root (Na⁺+K⁺)MgATPases isolated by different methods
Sammanfattning : Msiribrane bound (Na+ + K+)MgATPases from homogenates of young sugar beet roots were prepared either by differential centrifugations or by an aqueous two-phase system. The properties of the MgATPases were deter- mined in the preparations. Potassium [K (° Rb )] uptake into roots of intact sugar beets was also studied. LÄS MER
20. Hemicelluloses from Agricultural and Forestry Crops Isolation, Characterisation, and Enzymatic Hydrolysis
Sammanfattning : Hemicelluloses are tremendous sources of renewable raw materials, which utilisation have the potential to be highly increased in the future. Hemicelluloses are among the major groups of compounds in plant cell walls, together with cellulose and lignin. These three components are closely associated, making them difficult to separate from each other. LÄS MER
