    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Capillary Electrophoresis Mass Spectrometry; Hydrogen Deuterium Exchange Mass Spectrometry; Enantioselective Separations; Drugs of Abuse; Analytical Chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytisk farmaceutisk kemi; Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot analytisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Analytical Chemistry; Biology with specialization in Structural Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot strukturbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Capillary electrophoresis with mass spectrometric (CE–MS) detection offers a separation method without equal in terms of flexibility, utility, and cost efficiency. Here we demonstrate precisely this through the application of several laboratory-built CE–MS instruments for the separation of brain metabolites in non-primates, enantioselective separations of synthetic anesthetic metabolites in fractionated pony urine, application in structural proteomics workflows, and identification of exogenous alkaloid biotransformationproducts in human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Sammanfattning : In the last several years, the focus of traffic safety research—especially when performed in association with the automotive industry—has shifted from preventing injury during a crash to avoiding the crash altogether or mitigating its effects. Pre-crash safety measures include intelligent safety systems (e.g. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Cracks in the Ivory Tower : Antibiotics Research and the Changes in Academia 1980-2015

    Författare :Carl Björvang; Alexandra Waluszewski; Lars Fälting; Oili-Helena Ylijoki; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; antibiotic research; academic capitalism; scientific discoveries; research policy; Swedish research; antibiotic resistance; antibacterial treatment; Ekonomisk historia; Economic History;

    Sammanfattning : At the same time as resistance to antibiotics became an increasingly problematic health care concern around the world, major changes occurred in the condition scientists faced when conducting university-based research. This thesis aims to study these changes as they applied to antibacterial and bacteriological research, and how they influenced the researchers’ ability to make new scientific discoveries. LÄS MER
