  1. 6. Isomeric yield ratios in nuclear fission

    Författare :Zhihao Gao; Andreas Solders; Ali Al-Adili; Mattias Lantz; Stephan Pomp; Olivier Serot; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear fission; isomeric yield ratio; angular momentum; independent fission yield; ion guide; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Isomeric yield ratios (IYR), referring to the relative yield of the high spin states of a nucleus to the total yield of all observed states, is an observable of nuclear fission that has the potential to improve our understanding of the fission dynamics. Apart from that, systematic observations of IYRs can also contribute to other areas, such as the validation of fission models, modelling of the r-process in stellar nucleosynthesis, studies of the antineutrino mixing angle, the safety of present-day nuclear reactors, and the design of advanced reactor systems. 2. 7. Segmented HPGe detectors for post-irradiation examination of nuclear fuel : Design and demonstration in gamma emission tomography

    Författare :Vikram Rathore; Peter Andersson; Erik Andersson Sundén; Ane Håkansson; Andrew Boston; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Segmented HPGe detector; Nuclear fuel; Post-irradiation examination; Nuclear fuel diagnostics; Gamma emission tomography; Gamma spectroscopy; Non-destructive fuel testing; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Gamma emission tomography (GET) is a proven non-invasive technique for post-irradiation examination of nuclear fuel. In the past, collimated HPGe detectors were used for GET measurements due to their good energy resolution. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Studies of the nuclear processes of proton capture photon production and spallation neutron emission with advanced experimental techniques

    Författare :Johan Thun; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : A series of nuclear reaction experiments have been performed in the intermediate energy range up to 1.6 GeV using advanced techniques to detect and measure neutral ejectiles resulting mainly from proton bombardment of both light and heavy nuclei. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Studies of Cherenkov light production in irradiated nuclear fuel assemblies

    Författare :Erik Branger; Sophie Grape; Anders Hjalmarsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DCVD; Cherenkov light; Geant4; Nuclear fuel; Nuclear safeguards; Fysik med inriktning mot tillämpad kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Applied Nuclear Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The Digital Cherenkov Viewing Device (DCVD) is an instrument used by authority inspectors to assess irradiated nuclear fuel assemblies in wet storage for the purpose of nuclear safeguards. Originally developed to verify the presence of fuel assemblies with long cooling times and low burnup, the DCVD accuracy is sufficient for partial defect verification, where one verifies that part of an assembly has not been diverted. 5. 10. Development of New Monte Carlo Methods in Reactor Physics : Criticality, Non-Linear Steady-State and Burnup Problems

    Författare :Jan Dufek; Jan Wallenius; Waclaw Gudowski; Cheikh Diop; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Monte Carlo; reactor physics; fission source; inactive cycles; convergence; burnup; steady-state; criticality; eigenvalue; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The Monte Carlo method is, practically, the only approach capable of giving detail insight into complex neutron transport problems. In reactor physics, the method has been used mainly for determining the keff in criticality calculations. LÄS MER
