  1. 1. Odor identification in aging and dementia Influences of cognition and the ApoE gene

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Psykologi

    Författare :Jonas Olofsson; Umeå universitet.; [2008]
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Aging; olfaction; identification; dementia; Alzheimer; genetics; ApoE; population based; cognition; demographics; SOCIAL SCIENCES Social sciences Psychology; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Socialvetenskap Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Olfactory function is impaired in aging and dementia. The general aim of this thesis was to identify variables that predict olfactory function and dysfunction (assessed with an odor identification test) in middle-aged and elderly adults. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Genes to remember imaging genetics of hippocampus-based memory functions

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå Universitet

    Författare :Karolina Kauppi; Umeå universitet.; [2013]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Imaging genetics; fMRI; Episodic memory; SNP; KIBRA; BDNF; APOE; Hippocampus; Parahippocampus;

    Sammanfattning : In the field of imaging genetics, brain function and structure are used as intermediate phenotypes between genes and cognition/diseases to validate and extend findings from behavioral genetics. In this thesis, three of the strongest candidate genes for episodic memory, KIBRA, BDNF, and APOE, were examined in relation to memory performance and hippocampal/parahippocampal fMRI blood-oxygen level-dependent (BOLD) signal. 4. 4. Olfactory Function The Influence of Demographic, Cognitive, and Genetic Factors

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Department of Psychology, Stockholm University

    Författare :Margareta Hedner; Stockholms universitet.; [2013]
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Olfaction; odor identification; odor threshold; odor discrimination; aging; gender; ApoE; BDNF; val66met; association study; population-based; psykologi; Psychology;

    Sammanfattning : Olfactory function is affected by demographic, cognitive, and genetic factors. In the present thesis, three empirical studies investigated individual differences in olfactory ability. Study I explored demographic and cognitive correlates in common olfactory tasks; odor detection, odor discrimination, and odor identification. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Genetic Studies of Alzheimer's Disease

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Elin Blom; Uppsala universitet.; [2008]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alzheimer s disease; Linkage; Affected sib-pairs; APOE; APP duplication; 10q21; 19q13; Wnt signaling; MEDICINE Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine Internal medicine Geriatrics and medical gerontology; MEDICIN Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin Invärtesmedicin Geriatrik och medicinsk gerontologi;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) often have a family history of the disease, implicating genetics as a major risk factor. Three genes are currently known to cause familial early-onset AD (<65 years): the amyloid precursor protein (APP) and the presenilins (PSEN1 and PSEN2). LÄS MER
