  1. 1. Effects of ARF1 and phospholipase D on the assembly and secretion of apoB-100 containing lipoproteins

    Författare :Lennart Asp; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ApoB; ARF1; Phospholipase D; Lipoproteins; VLDL; ; Lipid droplets.;

    Sammanfattning : Hydrophobic insoluble lipids such as triglycerides and cholesterol ester are transported in spherical, water-soluble molecular complexes called lipoproteins. Lipoproteins are secreted mainly from the liver and intestine into the plasma for distribution to peripheral tissues. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The role of PPARalpha and growth hormone in hepatic lipid metaboism and atherosclerosis

    Författare :Anna Ljungberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :growth hormone; PPARalpha; atherosclerosis; lipid metabolism; fatty acids; apoB; ; ADRP; triglycerides; PGC-1; liver;

    Sammanfattning : Dyslipidemia mainly results from oversecretion of apoB-containing lipoproteins from theliver and is one of the most important risk factors for the development of atherosclerosis.Growth hormone (GH) plays a key role in the regulation of lipoprotein metabolism and thus,disturbances in GH secretion are associated with dyslipidemia and cardiovascular disease. 3. 3. PPARs in the regulation of gene expression and lipid metabolism in the liver

    Författare :Ulrika Edvardsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :PPARalpha; PPARgamma; PPARgamma2; Wy14; 643; rosiglitazone; liver; hepatocytes; insulin; fatty acids; MTP; ADRP; lipid metabolism; apoB; triglycerides.;

    Sammanfattning : Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) are ligand-activated transcription factors, regulating genes involved in carbohydrate, lipid and lipoprotein metabolism. Synthetic PPARalpha agonists used in clinic are the fibrates, and their hypotriglyceridemic effect is believed to be the result of decreased VLDL triglyceride secretion and increased turnover of triglyceride-rich lipoprotein particles in the circulation. 4. 4. Zebrafish models for large-scale genetic screens in dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis : Validation and application

    Författare :Manoj Kumar Bandaru; Marcel den Hoed; Anastasia Emmanouilidou; Ingelsson Erik; Shannon Fisher; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; zebrafish; dyslipidemia; atherosclerosis; genetic screens; high-cholesterol diet; APOE; APOB; LDLR; APOC2; PCSK9; LPAR2; GATAD2A; Medicinsk genetik; Medical Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Hundreds of loci have been robustly associated with circulating lipids, atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease; but for most loci the causal genes and mechanisms remain uncharacterized. The overall aim of my thesis is to develop and validate novel in vivo model systems that are suitable for high-throughput, image-based genetic screens in coronary artery disease and related traits, and use these model systems to systematically characterize positional candidate genes. 5. 5. The assembly and secretion of ApoB containing lipoproteins

    Författare :Pia Stillemark; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Apolipoprotein B; lipoprotein; VLDL; microsomal triglyceride transfer protein; chaperone;

    Sammanfattning : Increased levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood are important risk factors for the development of premature atherosclerosis and its complications such as coronary-heart diseases, stroke and peripheral vascular diseases. These diseases are the major causes of death in Europe, USA and part of Asia. LÄS MER
