  1. 1. Cholinesterase inhibitors in Alzheimer's disease : an experimental study on mechanisms of interatcion with muscarinic and nicotinic receptors and neuroprotection

    Författare :Anne-Lie Svensson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Alzheimer s disease Cholinesterase inhibitors Muscarinic receptors Nicotinic receptors Acetylcholine release Neuroprotection B-amyloid apolipoprotein E;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate the mechanisms beyond the interaction of cholinesterase inhibitors (ChEIs) with the cholinergic system in brain, with emphasis on their regulatory and mechanistic effects on subtypes of muscarinic and nicotinic receptors and neuroprotective properties. To investigate muscarinic receptor subtypes in frontal cortices of AD brains, the muscarinic antagonists pirenzepine, AF-DX 116, HHSiD, p-F-HHSiD and himbacine were used in receptor binding assays. 2. 2. Polisanmälningar i grundskolan

    Författare :Anne-Lie Vainik; Titti Mattsson; Martin Börjeson; Kerstin Svensson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Children; Police-report; Compulsory school; Modernity; Social systems; Cultural sensitivity; Pedagogical tool; Social work; Socialt arbete;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is about police reports concerning school violence in Sweden involving children below the age of criminal responsibility. Police reports about incidents caused by pupils in Swedish compulsory schools have increased since at least the 1980s. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Neurobiological Consequences of Social Conditions and Alcohol Exposure in Adolescent rats

    Författare :Linnea Granholm; Ingrid Nylander; Anne-Lie Svensson; Erika Roman; Maria Ellgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adolescence; alcohol; amphetamine; dopamine; dorsal striatum; dynorphin; endogenous opi- oids; enkephalin; high-speed chronoamperometry; housing conditions; rats; nociceptin orphanin FQ; radi- oimmunoassay; self-administration; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Adolescence represents a time of extensive reorganisation and maturation of brain circuits involved in emotions, motivation and cognition and it is a period particular sensitive for external stimuli. External stimuli can be both socio-environmental factors and exposure to exogenous compounds such as drugs of abuse (e.g. alcohol). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Stress, Drugs and Neuroscience : Neurobiological Effects of Social Stressors and Drug Exposure in Young and Adolescent Rats

    Författare :Linnea Granholm; Ingrid Nylander; Erika Roman; Anne-Lie Svensson; Maria Ellgren; Annika Thorsell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adolescence; alcohol exposure; amphetamine; beta-endorphin; dopamine; dynorphin; early life; endogenous opioids; enkephalin; gene expression; high-speed chronoamperometry; nociceptin orphanin FQ; radioimmunoassay; self-administration; social stress; voluntary alcohol intake; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Experiences early in life or during adolescence modulate neuronal networks in the immature brain and consequently lay the foundation for future susceptibility or resilience towards psychiatric disorders. The objective in this thesis is to understand, in part, how the surrounding environment shapes the brain of a young individual. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Early Environment, Adolescent Alcohol Drinking and Neurobiological Responses to Drugs

    Författare :Sara Palm; Ingrid Nylander; Anne-Lie Svensson; Lundblad Martin; Giancarlo Colombo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adolescence; beta-endorphin; dopamine; dynorphin; endogenous opioids; enkephalin; high-speed chronoamperometry; housing conditions; maternal separation; multivariate concentric square field™ test; open field test; radioimmunoassay; voluntary alcohol intake; Wistar rats; Pharmaceutical Science; Farmaceutisk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Genes and environment interact to determine an individual’s vulnerability or resilience to several psychiatric disorders, including alcohol use disorder (AUD). Alcohol use is often initiated during adolescence and early onset drinking is associated with increased risk for later AUD. LÄS MER
