1. Nucleoside analoge cytotoxicity-focus on enzyme regulation, metabolism, and mechanisms of resistance
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to determine the role of nucleoside analog activating and deactivating enzymes in nucleoside analog metabolism and resistance development. Nucleoside analogs are anti-cancer drogs and are often used to treat different leukemias, attributably to presence of high levels of nucleoside analog activating enzymes in hematopoietic cells. 2. Studies on the effect of ErbB tyrosine kinase inhibitors on malignant melanoma growth and survival in vitro
Sammanfattning : Malignant melanoma has one of the fastest increasing incidences among the different types of cancerin the Western world. This raise can partly be ascribed to the change in sun habits that has takenplace during the last decades, since the major external risk factor for melanoma is exposure toultraviolet radiation. 3. Health systems bottlenecks and evidence-based district health planning : Experiences from the district health system in Uganda
Sammanfattning : In low-income countries where maternal and child mortality remains high, there is limited use of context-specific evidence for decision making and prioritization of interventions in the planning process at the sub-national level, such as the district level. Knowledge on the utility of tools and interventions to promote use of district-specific evidence in the planning process is limited, yet it could contribute to the prioritization of high-impact interventions for women and children. 4. Experimental studies on multidrug resistance in human leukaemia : role of cellular heterogeneity for daunorubicin kinetics
Sammanfattning : Cellular resistance to chemotherapy is a major cause of treatment failure in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) and still the majority of the patients die from their disease. Drug resistance 1s multifactorial, the most studied mechanism being multidrug resistance (MDR), mediated by the P-glycoprotein (Pgp). LÄS MER
5. Gångtunneln : Urbana erfarenheter i svensk ungdomslitteratur 1890–2010
Sammanfattning : This thesis shows that the urban experience is a fundamental part of the development of the Swedish young adult novel by analysing city representations in Swedish young adult literature from 1890 to 2010. By suggestion that there is a strong bond between the notion of the urban and that of adolescence this study examines continuity and change in representations of coming-of-age, focusing especially on intersections between age, gender, class, ethnicity and sexuality.
