  1. 1. Biomolecules at Interfaces -Studied by Surface and Solution Techniques

    Författare :Anna Bergstrand; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LDL; sepsis; PEG; LPS; lipopolysaccharide; QCM-D; SPR;

    Sammanfattning : The interfacial behaviour of biomolecules in general and proteins in particular is interesting from a biochemical point of view since proteins are involved in processes such as complement activation, blood coagulation and atherosclerotic plaque formation, but also in the context of biomedical applications such as solid-phase diagnostics, therapeutic aphaeresis and biosensors. The objective of this thesis is to study biomolecular interactions using surface sensitive biosensor techniques such as surface plasmon resonance, SPR, in combination with bulk techniques. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Preventing pressure ulcers by assessment of the microcirculation in tissue exposed to pressure

    Författare :Sara Bergstrand; Margareta Lindgren; Anna-Christina Ek; Maria Engström; Lars-Göran Lindberg; Fredrik Huss; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pressure ulcer; photoplethysmography; laser Doppler flowmetry; non-invasive; tissue blood flow; reactive hyperemia; pressure-induced vasodilation; interface pressure; risk assessment;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to combine optical methods into a system with the ability to simultaneously measure blood flow changes at different tissue depths. The goal of such a system was to reveal vascular mechanisms relevant to pressure ulcer etiology under clinically relevant conditions and in relation to the evaluation of pressure-redistribution support surfaces. 3. 3. Tissue Blood Flow Responses to External Pressure Using LDF and PPG : Testing a System Developed for Pressure Ulcer Research

    Författare :Sara Bergstrand; Anna-Christina Ek; Margareta Lindgren; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Pressure ulcers are a problem for immobile individuals, and having pressure ulcers impact and restrict the daily and are often associated with pain. Pressure ulcers occur frequently and cause high costs for the health care system. LÄS MER
