    Författare :Grace Kizito Bakyayita; Ann-Catrine Norrström; Robinah N. Kulabako; Maimuna Nalubega; Roger Thunvik; Ann-Margret Hvitt Strömvall; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biosorbents; cadmium; competitive uptake; Freundlich; pseudo-second-order kinetics; Langmuir; lead; remediation; risks; speciation; toxicity effects; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Groundwater, wastewater, surface runoff and surface water samples from Lake Victoria basin, Uganda was assessed for trace metals contamination. Untreated, base-treated and peroxide-treated biosorbents from Albizia coriaria, Coffea canephora, Cyperus papyrus, Erythrina abyssinica and Musa spp were investigated for removal of selected trace metals from contaminated water in batch studies. Författare :Grace Bakyayita Kizito; Ann-Catrine Norrström; Robinah Kulabako; Mai Nalubega; Dan Berggren Kleja; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biosorbents; cadmium; chemisorption; isotherms; kinetics; lead;

    Sammanfattning : Agricultural wastes; Albizia coriaria, Coffea canephora, Cyperus papyrus, Erythrina abyssinica and Musa spp were evaluated for uptake of aqueous Cd2+ and Pb2+ ions in single- and binary-component solutions. Untreated, base-treated and peroxide-treated biomasses were employed in batch studies. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Monitoring transport and fate of de-icing salt in the roadside environment : Modelling and field measurements

    Författare :Annika Lundmark; Per-Erik Jansson; Bo Olofsson; Ann-Catrine Norrström; Helen K. French; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chloride; De-icing salt; Groundwater; Modelling; Monitoring; Road; Roadside; Soil water; Water in nature and society; Vatten i natur och samhälle;

    Sammanfattning : Roads and traffic are a major non-point source of pollutants and may have severe impacts on surface water, groundwater, soil and vegetation. In cold climates, de-icing salt is one such pollutant that may cause increased chloride concentrations and induce other effects on the environment. LÄS MER
