1. Emergency care seeking behaviour : in relation to patients' and providers' perceptions and attitudes
Sammanfattning : Background: This study was developed with the main objective of evaluating users of emergency departments (ED) triaged as non-urgent following a period of time when large cutbacks in hospital and ambulatory care were taking place in Sweden. Aim: To analyse patients seeking medical attention for conditions triaged as non-urgent at an ED and patients who used non-scheduled services in primary care (PC) in relation to their symptoms, perceptions and the physicians’ assessments of urgency, and to register their subsequent health care use within one month. Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis is to study how gene technology appears as a topic in certain arenas of the public discourse. What are the premises, visions and ideas that are continuously formulated and circulated in the public discourse, and through what communicative practices are they formulated? 3. Evaluation of a client-centred ADL intervention after stroke : perspectives of occupational therapists, clients with stroke and significant others
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis is to build knowledge of a new client-centred activities of daily living (ADL) intervention (CADL), which takes the unique experiences of persons with stroke as the point of departure, and aims to enable agency in daily activities and participation in everyday life among persons with stroke. The focus of this thesis is an evaluation of CADL after stroke, from the perspectives of occupational therapists (OT), clients with stroke and their significant others. LÄS MER
4. A pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic study of an antiepileptic drug (lamotrigine) in young patients with drug-resistant generalized epilepsy
Sammanfattning : The purpose of the present study was to investigate the safety and efficacy of lamotrigine in young patients with drug-resistant generalised epilepsy. 5. A second chance at life : A study about people suffering out-of-hospital cardiac arrest
Sammanfattning : AimThe overall aim of this thesis was to describe people’s lives before and aftersuffering out-of-hospital cardiac arrest with validated myocardial infarction aetiology (OHCA-V). The following specific aims were formulated: describe trends in incidence, outcome and background characteristics among people who suffered OHCA-V (I), describe risk factors and thoughts about lifestyle among survivors(II),elucidate meanings of people’s lived experiences of surviving 1month after the event (III),and elucidate meanings of people’s lived experiencesof surviving 6 and 12 months after the event (IV)MethodsData were collected from the Northern Sweden MONICA myocardial registryand from interviews with people surviving OHCA-V.
