6. Das seufzende Schwein : Zur Theorie und Praxis in deutschen Modellen zur Tierethik
Sammanfattning : In this study five German models of animal ethics are analysed. Three theological and two philosophical models representing anthropocentric, sentientistic, biocentric and ecocentric perspectives are presented. LÄS MER
7. Modular Hyaluronan-Based Hydrogels for 3D Cell Culture and Bioprinting
Sammanfattning : Three-dimensional (3D) cell culture facilitates development of biological relevant assays for drug screening and toxicity testing. Compared to conventional 2D cell culture, cells cultured in 3D can more accurately mimic human tissues and organs and thus provide ex vivo data with potentially better predictive value for cancer research, pharmacology, and toxicology, reducing the need for animal models, improving experimental reproducibility, and reducing time and costs in drug development. 8. Modular Enzyme-Responsive Polysaccharide-Based Hydrogels for Biofabrication
Sammanfattning : Engineered human tissue and disease models can decrease the cost and time of developing new drugs and treatments, facilitate personalized medicine, and eliminate the need for animal models that poorly represent the human body and are ethically problematic. However, the current conventional cell expansion methods using 2D culture flasks cannot enable the development of such complex multi-cellular 3D models. LÄS MER
9. On the use of aerosol optical properties and satellite-retrieved trace gases in regional air quality modelling
Sammanfattning : The effects of anthropogenic pollutants in the lower atmosphere (troposphere) have been shown, historically and scientifically, to have a deleterious effect on both plant and animal life. Pollutants such as near-surface ozone and soot (black carbon) are two notorious examples with clear anthropogenic sources. LÄS MER
10. Development and Application of Software Tools for Mass Spectrometry Imaging
Sammanfattning : Mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) has been extensively used to produce qualitative maps of distributions of proteins, peptides, lipids, neurotransmitters, small molecule pharmaceuticals and their metabolites directly in biological tissue sections. Moreover, during the last 10 years, there has been growing demand to quantify target compounds in tissue sections of various organs. LÄS MER
