  3. 3. Comparative Seed Morphology and Phylogenetics : Case Studies in Basal Angiosperms (ANITA) and Asterids (Lysimachia, Ericales)

    Författare :Il-Chan Oh; Mats Thulin; Arne A. Anderberg; Bertil Ståhl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Biologi; systematisk botanik; Systematic Botany;

    Sammanfattning : The first half of the thesis deals with the seed morphology of members of the ANITA grade at the base of the angiosperm phylogeny (Amborella, Nymphaeales, Illiciales, Trimeniaceae, and Austrobaileyaceae), especially Illiciaceae and Schisandraceae. Seed characters support a major division between the New World and Old World species of Illicium. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Evolution of genetic mechanisms regulating reproductive development in plants : Characterisation of MADS-box genes active during cone development in Norway spruce

    Författare :Jens Sundström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; Picea abies; evolution; flower development; transcription factor; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi; fysiologisk botanik; Physiological Botany;

    Sammanfattning : The reproductive organs of conifers and angiosperms differ in morphology in several fundamental respects. The conifer Norway spruce (Picea abies) form pollen and seed cones from separate meristems whereas angiosperms bear bipartite flowers with sepals and petals surrounding two inner whorls of stamens and carpels. 5. 5. Rates and patterns of bryophyte molecular evolution

    Författare :Anna-Malin Linde; Ulf Lagercrantz; Nils Cronberg; D. Magnus Eklund; Jonathan Shaw; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär funktionsgenomik; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Functional Genomics;

    Sammanfattning : Plants have been growing on land for at least 450 million years. The bryophytes comprising the three phyla liverworts, mosses and hornworts, are considered to be the closest extant relatives to the plants that colonized land. LÄS MER
