21. Post-cardiac arrest care. Targeted temperature management and coronary care
Sammanfattning : AbstractOut-of-hospital cardiac arrest is a devastating manifestation of coronary artery disease. For patients who are initially resuscitated and are admitted to an intensive care unit, mortality is high. Roughly half of all patients die, primarily due to neurological injury. LÄS MER
22. Central retinal vein occlusion: Cetrain risk factors, electroretinography and an experimental treatment model
Sammanfattning : The presence of activated protein C resistance, plasma hyperhomocysteinemia and the MTHFR C677T mutation in patients with central retinal vein occlusion were investigated and compared to a control group. Activated protein C resistance was overrepresented in the group of patients less than 50 years of age whereas this was not the case in patients more than 50 years of age. LÄS MER
23. Serum lipoprotein(a) in relation to ischemic heart disease and associated risk factors
Sammanfattning : Lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) consists of an LDL-like particle and the specific protein apo(a), which is very similar to plasminogen. Apo(a) contains repeated kringle structures and a serine protease domain, which cannot be activated by t-PA. Lp(a) is considered to be a predictor for atherosclerotic disease. LÄS MER
24. Early parathyroidectomy in mild primary hyperparathyroidism: Effects on heart and bones
Sammanfattning : There is an ongoing controversy regarding how to take care of patients with mild primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT). Some recommend surgical treatment at diagnosis, others just follow-up as long as there is no evidence of disease progression. LÄS MER
25. Fast Methods for Vascular Segmentation Based on Approximate Skeleton Detection
Sammanfattning : Modern medical imaging techniques have revolutionized health care over the last decades, providing clinicians with high-resolution 3D images of the inside of the patient's body without the need for invasive procedures. Detailed images of the vascular anatomy can be captured by angiography, providing a valuable source of information when deciding whether a vascular intervention is needed, for planning treatment, and for analyzing the success of therapy.
