2. Tactile touch in intensive care : Nurses' preparation, patients' experiences and the effect on stress parameters
Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of this thesis was to acquire knowledge about whether tactile touch as a complementary method can (i) promote comfort and (ii) reduce stress reactions during care in an intensive care unit (ICU) Method: In Paper I, five nurses with a touch therapist training were interviewed about their experiences of preparation before giving tactile touch in an ICU. To analyse the meaning of preparation as a phenomenon, Giorgi’s descriptive phenomenological approach was used. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : Microdialysis was used to monitor local concentrations of energy metabolites in different organs, and to study the pharmacokinetics of morphine over the blood-brain barrier in intact and injured brain tissue in conditions treated in the Intensive Care Unit. After major abdominal or thoracoabdominal surgery, postoperative thoracic epidural analgesia resulted in higher glycerol concentrations in the deltoid subcutaneous adipose tissue, implying increased lipolysis, on the third postoperative day as compared to intravenous infusion of morphine, possibly due to a locally increased sympathetic tone. Sammanfattning : Det övergripande syftet med avhandlingsarbetet är att illustrera och belysa upplevelsen av att vara patient med behov av ledprotes, avseende aspekterna kommunikation, smärtupplevelse, lidande och tillfredsställelse med vård och behandling. Under väntetiden för ledprotesoperation upplever deltagarna i studierna lidande i olika former, tillika att vården är otillgänglig och onåbar i ett ansiktslöst system (I). LÄS MER
