1. Health Care Professionals’ Views of Smart Glasses for Vital Signs Monitoring in Complex Care Environments
Sammanfattning : Monitoring patient vital signs is one of many important tasks for health care professionals in intensive care units and anaesthesia departments. Patient status can deteriorate in seconds, hence close surveillance is requisite for safe care. However, monitoring vital signs can be challenging in some situations. LÄS MER
2. System identification and control for general anesthesia based on parsimonious Wiener models
Sammanfattning : The effect of anesthetics in the human body is usually described by Wiener models. The high number of patient-dependent parameters in the standard models, the poor excitatory pattern of the input signals (administered anesthetics) and the small amount of available input-output data make application of system identification strategies difficult. 3. Femoral and Inguinal Hernia : How to Minimize Adverse Outcomes Following Repair
Sammanfattning : Groin hernia is common, and each year 200 repairs per 100 000 adult inhabitants are performed in Sweden. Groin hernias are either inguinal or femoral (2-4%). Elective repair is not associated with an excess mortality, but adverse outcomes include recurrence and long-term pain. LÄS MER
4. Human vascular alpha-adrenoceptors. A study of peripheral arteries and veins in vitro and in vivo
Sammanfattning : By means of a sensitive myograph and alpha-receptor subtype selective agonists and antagonists the postjunctional alpha-adrenoceptors were characterized in small omental and groin arteries and veins and in long saphenous veins obtained from 52 "healthy" adults during surgery. These vessels were found to have a mixed population of contraction mediating postjunctional alpha-receptors with a predominance of apha1-receptors in the arteries and a predominance of alpha2-receptors in the veins, although regional variations occurred. 5. Mitral Valve Surgery: Effects on Cardiac Reverse Remodeling, Hemodynamics, and Clinical Outcome
Sammanfattning : Normalization of life expectancy after mitral valve surgery is highly dependent on early diagnosis and referral for surgical treatment. Among cases treated surgically, the majority (60–70%) have a degenerative etiology, which is also easiest to repair. LÄS MER
