1. Microscopic Simulation of Pedestrian Traffic
Sammanfattning : There has recently been a renewed interest in planning for pedestrian traffic, primarily in connection to public transport interchange stations, since these are important for public transport to constitute an attractive alternative to car usage. This thesis concerns microscopic simulation of pedestrian traffic, which is a promising tool for analyzing and predicting the traffic situation in a given pedestrian facility; particularly powerful when the traffic is congested. 2. Origin-destination matrix estimation from traffic counts
Sammanfattning : For most kind of analyses in the field of traffic modeling, there is a need for origin-destination (OD) matrices, which specify the travel demands between the origin and destination nodes in the network. The process of obtaining OD-matrices is long, complicated and expensive. LÄS MER
3. The Origin-Destination Matrix Estimation Problem : Analysis and Computations
Sammanfattning : For most kind of analyses in the field of traffic planning, there is a need for origin--destination (OD) matrices, which specify the travel demands between the origin and destination nodes in the network. This thesis concerns the OD-matrix estimation problem, that is, the calculation of OD-matrices using observed link flows. LÄS MER
4. Assessment of shear and energy‐absorption capacity of reinforced concrete elements under impulsive loads
Sammanfattning : Impulsive loads have been observed to cause brittle shear failure in reinforced concrete elements designed for ductile failure modes under static loads. Brittle failure modes exhibit poorer energy absorption capabilities compared to ductile flexural failure modes due to their limited deformation capacity, leading to premature failure. LÄS MER
5. Improved CoMFA Modeling by Optimization of Settings : Toward the Design of Inhibitors of the HCV NS3 Protease
Sammanfattning : The hepatitis C virus (HCV), with a global prevalence of roughly 2%, is among the most serious diseases today. Among the more promising HCV targets is the NS3 protease, for which several drug candidates have entered clinical trials. LÄS MER
