23. Continuity and Change : Essays on path-dependence in economic geography and good food
Sammanfattning : How can it be, that in our rapidly changing world certain things remain recognisably the same for such a long time? This dissertation is concerned with the economic geography of path-dependence and seeks to explain selected everyday examples of continuity and change. How can French restaurants and chefs be successful for decades despite changes in taste? Why are cars powered by fossil fuels still around while there are many novel and cleaner alternatives? What explains the re-invention of local food products in spite of the influx of many new products from around the world? These are the question this dissertation tries to explain as spatial expressions of ‘path-dependence’. LÄS MER
24. Bilder av lokal näringslivsutveckling : exemplet Värnamo
Sammanfattning : The main aim of this licentiate thesis is to examine how local actors in a medium-sized Swedish municipality, Värnamo, in their role as decision-makers at the local arena, describe and explain the preconditions and strategies for local economic and social development. The analysis uses semi-structured interviews to reveal the connections between the local actors representations of social and economic structures and their representations of central and future strategic choices. Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with the professional knowledge processes that contemporary visual artists develop and use in their construction of art as well as of their careers. In contributing to the geographical literature on professional learning and artistic labour, the thesis explores the question of how self-employed artists generate, apply and communicate their knowledge and skills in the context of individual work projects.
