6. In-plane Compressive Response of Sandwich Panels
Sammanfattning : The high specific bending stiffness of sandwich structures can with advantage be used in vehicles to reduce their weight and thereby potentially also their fuel consumption. However, the structure must not only meet the in-service requirements but also provide sufficient protection of the vehicle passengers in a crash situation. LÄS MER
7. Strength of Sandwich Panels Loaded in In-plane Compression
Sammanfattning : The use of composite materials in vehicle structures could reduce the weight and thereby the fuel consumption of vehicles. As the road safety of the vehicles must be ensured, it is vital that the energy absorbing capability of the composite materials are similar to or better than the commonly used steel structures. 8. Evaluation of Regularized Image Reconstruction for Clinical Positron Emission Tomography
Sammanfattning : Positron emission tomography (PET) combined with computed tomography (CT) is a widely used noninvasive molecular imaging modality with a broad range of clinical applications in oncology, neurology, and cardiology. Producing imperative image quality and accurate quantification are important driving forces behind the technological advances within PET image reconstruction and system development. LÄS MER
9. Förhållandet mellan praxis och teori inom etiken
Sammanfattning : The main question of this thesis is if a practice is right because it is prescribed by an ethical theory, or if an ethical theory is right because it follows from certain practices? I propose the following definitions to illustrate the main alternatives: (1) if a practice is determined by an ethical theory and the ethical theory is not determined by practice, it is possible to speak of a top-down model of ethical thinking. (2) If a theory, conversely, is determined by a practice and the practice is not determined by theory, it can be described as a bottom-up model. LÄS MER
10. From Conceivability to Possibility : An Essay in Modal Epistemology
Sammanfattning : This study deals with the thesis that conceivability implies possibility. Confronted with alleged counterexamples to this thesis, some philosophers have turned to what may be called “idealized” or “more demanding” notions of conceivability. LÄS MER
