1. Excitation and Ground-State Properties of Natural and Modified Nucleic Acid Bases
Sammanfattning : The nucleic acid bases are the carriers of genetic information in DNA and RNA. They are also the main chromophores of nucleic acids and determine their optical properties and sensitivity to UV radiation. LÄS MER
2. Catalytic conversion of syngas to higher alcohols over MoS2-based catalysts
Sammanfattning : The present thesis concerns catalytic conversion of syngas (H2+ CO) into a blend of methanol and higher alcohols, an attractive way of producing fuels and chemicals. This route has the potential to reduce the oil dependence in the transport sector and, with the use of biomass for the syngas generation, produce CO2-neutral fuels. LÄS MER
3. Kinh Settlers in Viet Nam’s Northern Highlands : Natural Resources Management in a Cultural Context
Sammanfattning : This study deals with the Kinh (or Viet) majority people who have migrated from the lowland Red River Delta to the mountainous areas of northern Viet Nam, and their adjustment to a new social and physical environment. Its aim is to analyse the social and cultural consequences for these migrants when settling in communities populated with people who belong to the national ethnic minorities (the Tày, the Giay and the Ngan peoples). 4. Study of the activity of catalysts for the production of high quality biomass gasification gas : with emphasis on Ni-substituted Ba-hexaaluminates
Sammanfattning : The fossil hydrocarbons are not inexhaustible, and their use is not without impact in our need of energy, fuels and hydrocarbons as building blocks for organic materials. The quest for renewable, environmentally more friendly technologies are in need and woody biomass is a promising candidate, well provided in the boreal parts of the world. LÄS MER
5. Computational Analysis of Aqueous Drug Solubility – Influence of the Solid State
Sammanfattning : Aqueous solubility is a key parameter influencing the bioavailability of drugs and drug candidates. In this thesis computational models for the prediction of aqueous drug solubility were explored. LÄS MER
