  1. 11. Towards Intelligent Deformable Models for Medical Image Analysis

    Författare :Ghassan Hamarneh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; shape modeling; deformable models; principal component analysis; echocardiography; snakes; active shape models; deformable spatio-temporal shape models; medial-based shape profiles; statistical shape variation; spatio-temporal shape analysis; magnetic resonance imaging; hierarchical regional principal component analysis; oral lesions; dynamic programming; segmentation; spring-mass model; shape deformation; optical flow; medical image analysis; artificial life; physics-based modeling; deformable organisms; digital color images; medial axis; active contour models;

    Sammanfattning : Medical imaging continues to permeate the practice of medicine, but automated yet accurate segmentation and labeling of anatomical structures continues to be a major obstacle to computerized medical image analysis (MIA). Deformable models, with its profound roots in estimation theory, optimization, and physics-based dynamical systems, represent a powerful approach to the general problem of medical image segmentation. 2. 12. Automated feature detection in multidimensional images

    Författare :Einar Heiberg; Carlos Alberola; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Manual identification of structures and features in multidimensional images is at best time consuming and operator dependent. Feature identification need to be accurate, repeatable and quantitative.This thesis presents novel methods for automated feature detection in multidimensional images that are independent on imaging modality. 3. 13. Chest Tomosynthesis for Detection and Surveillance of Pulmonary Pathology. Studies on Cystic Fibrosis and Solid Pulmonary Nodules

    Författare :Carin Meltzer; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; digital tomosynthesis; cystic fibrosis; solid lung nodules;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Digital tomosynthesis (DTS) is a relatively new imaging modality in thoracic imaging. The technique is based on the equipment of conventional radiography, upgraded with a moving tube that enables separation of structures that are superimposed on chest x-ray (CXR). LÄS MER

  4. 14. Fast Methods for Vascular Segmentation Based on Approximate Skeleton Detection

    Författare :Kristína Lidayová; Hans Frimmel; Ewert Bengtsson; Örjan Smedby; Alejandro F. Frangi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; medical image analysis; automatic skeleton extraction; vascular segmentation; coverage segmentation; convolutional neural network classifier; CT angiography; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : Modern medical imaging techniques have revolutionized health care over the last decades, providing clinicians with high-resolution 3D images of the inside of the patient's body without the need for invasive procedures. Detailed images of the vascular anatomy can be captured by angiography, providing a valuable source of information when deciding whether a vascular intervention is needed, for planning treatment, and for analyzing the success of therapy. 5. 15. Ultrasonography for Diagnosis, Intervention and Follow-up in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

    Författare :Louise Laurell; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ultrasonography; color Doppler; juvenile idiopathic arthritis; symptomatic ankles and wrists; synovitis; enthesitis; US-guided steroid injection; follow-up; MRI;

    Sammanfattning : Early therapeutic intervention and the use of novel, highly effective treatments in juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) have improved the outcome in many diseased children, but have also increased the need for more precise methods for evaluating disease activity. In this context, both ultrasonography (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) play an important role in adult rheumatology, although these methods have yet not been fully evaluated in JIA. LÄS MER
