11. Carlson type inequalities and their applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis treats inequalities of Carlson type, i.e. inequalities of the form∥f∥x≤K∏i=1m∥f∥Aiθiwhere ∑i=1mθi =1 and K is some constant, independent of the function f. X and Ai are normed spaces, embedded in some Hausdorff topological vector space. LÄS MER
12. Optimization and Estimation of Solutions of Riccati Equations
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of three papers on topics related to optimization and estimation of solutions of Riccati equations. We are concerned with the initial value problemf'+f² =r², f(0)=0, (*)and we want to optimiseF(T)= ∫0T f(t) dtwhen r is allowed to vary over the set R(φ ) of all equimeasurable rearrangements of a decreasing function φ and its convex hull CR(φ). 13. Topics in Potential Theory: Quadrature Domains, Balayage and Harmonic Measure
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, which consists of five papers (A,B,C,D,E), we are interested in questions related to quadrature domains. Among the problems studied are the possibility of changing the type of measure in a quadrature identity (from complex to real and from real signed to positive), properties of partial balayage, which in a sense can be used to generate quadrature domains, and mother bodies which are closely related to inversion of partial balayage. 14. Linear and Non-linear Deformations of Stochastic Processes
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of three papers on the following topics in functional analysis and probability theory: Riesz bases and frames, weakly stationary stochastic processes and analysis of set-valued stochastic processes. In the first paper we investigate Uniformly Bounded Linearly Stationary stochastic processes from the point of view of the theory of Riesz bases. LÄS MER
15. Computational Aspects of Maass Waveforms
Sammanfattning : The topic of this thesis is computation of Mass waveforms, and we consider a number of different cases: Congruence subgroups of the modular group and Dirichlet characters (chapter 1); congruence subgroups and general multiplier systems and real weight (chapter 2); and noncongruence subgroups (chapter 3). In each case we first discuss the necessary theoretical background. LÄS MER
