6. Fundamentals of NH3-SCR and SOx chemistry over copper zeolite for the control of NOx and greenhouse gas (N2O) emissions
Sammanfattning : The release of N2O over Cu-zeolite was investigated due to the critical contribution it makes to the atmosphere as one of the greenhouse gases (GHGs). An exhaust after-treatment system (EATS) for heavy-duty vehicles that uses Cu/SSZ-13 as the selective catalyst reduction (SCR) catalyst experiences not only a variety of flow, temperature and chemical conditions but is also exposed to various resulting contaminants. 7. The effect of framework structure on N2O formation over Cu-based zeolites during NH3-SCR reactions
Sammanfattning : Anthropogenic nitrous oxide (N2O), which is generally formed as a byproduct of industrial chemical processes and fossil fuel combustion, has attracted significant attention in recent years due to its destructive role in global warming and ozone layer depletion. Among different developed technologies applied for lean NOx reduction, the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOx with ammonia (as a reducing agent) is presently the most used method. LÄS MER
8. Biogeochemical Processes in Denitrifying Woodchip Bioreactors and their Application in the Mining Industry
Sammanfattning : This thesis evaluates passive denitrifying woodchip bioreactors (DWBs) for the removal of nitrate (NO3-) in neutral pH mine drainage, where water is passed through a carbon-rich porous matrix (e.g. woodchips) for the reduction of NO3- to nitrogen gas. LÄS MER
9. Nutrient and Organic Matter Dynamics in Beech Forest Floors, in Relation to the Presence of Ground Flora
Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis was to quantify differences between adjacent patches with and without ground flora of Deschampsia flexuosa L. Trin or Anemone nemorosa L. in two acid European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) forest floors in south-west of Sweden. LÄS MER
10. Microbial nitrate removal from mining waters
Sammanfattning : Mining activities cause high levels of nitrogen in the process water. The nitrogen originates from the blasting procedure, where undetonated explosives in the form of ammonium nitrate dissolve in the water. Part of the water is discharged to receiving water bodies where it may cause environmental problems. LÄS MER
