  1. 6. Palaeodiet and Infant Feeding in Coastal Arctic Settlements : Insights from stable isotope analysis of bone and dentine collagen and amino acids

    Författare :Alison Harris; Gunilla Eriksson; Kerstin Lidén; Michelle Alexander; Tamsin O'Connell; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Arctic; palaeodiet; Inuit; Yup’ik; infant feeding; domestic dogs; amino acids; collagen; stable isotopes; maintenance activities; gender; arkeologi med inriktning mot laborativ arkeologi; Scientific Archaeology;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation investigates the day-to-day activities that sustained human societies in the arctic and subarctic environments of North America and Siberia over the past 1500 years. Maintenance activities, such as food preparation, childcare, and the care of domestic animals, are commonly inflected by social identity and can provide insight into the experience of gender among archaeological and historical populations. 2. 7. Non Natural Aromatic Amino Acids Applications in cage-construction, metal ion coordination and asymmetric catalysis

    Författare :Ruxandra Ionescu; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diethylzinc additions.; spectroscopy; metal ion coordination; cage-like compounds; Amino acids; C3-symmetry; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Aromatic non-natural amino acids, the outstanding feature of which was the presence of several arms, were synthesised and their properties investigated. The amino acids were synthesised following a standard procedure starting with a Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons or a Heck reaction, which provided didehydroamino acids. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Asymmetric Synthesis of C-Glycosylated Amino Acids : Incorporation in Collagen Glycopeptides and Evaluation in a Model for Rheumatoid Arthritis

    Författare :Tomas Gustafsson; Jan Kihlberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Total synthesis; stereoselective synthesis; chiral glycine templates; Evan’s alkylation; asymmetric hydrogenation; alpha-amino acid synthesis; C-glycoside; rheumatoid arthritis; MHC; T cell; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes stereoselective syntheses of four amino acids, three of which are C-glycosidic analogues of glycosylated amino acids. The overall goal of the project was to probe the interactions between MHC molecules, glycopeptide antigens and T cell receptors, that are essential for development of collagen induced arthritis. 4. 9. Characterization of Amino Acid Transporters : Transporters expressed in the central nervous system belonging to the Solute Carrier family SLC38

    Författare :Sofie Victoria Hellsten; Robert Fredriksson; Gether Ulrik; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Solute carriers; amino acid transporter; SLC38 family; SLC38A8; SNAT8; SLC38A10; SNAT10; SLC38A9; SNAT9; amino acid starvation; AAR; mTORC1; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : In cells and organelles transporters are responsible for translocation of amino acids, sugars and nucleotides among others. In the central nervous system (CNS), amino acid transporters can function as neurotransmitter transporters and nutrient sensors. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Synthesis of Non-Natural Aromatic Amino Acids Derivatives Solvent-free reactions-Versatile building blocks-Galectin inhibitors

    Författare :Erik Tullberg; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organisk kemi; Organic chemistry; Naturvetenskap; Natural science; Multivalent galectin inhibitors; Multifunctional molecules; Amino Acids; Solvent-free reactions;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with three topics concerning the synthesis of non-natural also known as unnatural amino acid derivatives. In the first, solvent-free reaction conditions for the Heck reaction were developed that were superior to previous conditions because the reaction time could be reduced and the work-up procedure simplified.
