  1. 1. PBDEs in the Environment : Time trends, bioaccumulation and the identification of their successor, decabromodiphenyl ethane

    Författare :Amelie Kierkegaard; Lillemor Asplund; Cynthia de Wit; Michael McLachlan; Jacob de Boer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :PBDE; BDE209; dietary absorption; metabolism; debromination; bioaccumulation; decabromodiphenyl ethane; decabromodiphenyl ether; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are important chemical flame retardants, but also environmental pollutants. Their bromine substitution lends them a different bioaccumulation behaviour than the better studied organochlorines.The contamination of a Swedish lake with lower brominated BDEs was assessed by a retrospective study of pike. 2. 2. Partitioning and persistence of volatile methylsiloxanes in aquatic environments

    Författare :Dimitrios Panagopoulos; Matthew MacLeod; Annika Jahnke; Amelie Kierkegaard; Whelan Mick; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; siloxanes; organic carbon; sediment; partitioning; persistence; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The presence of volatile methylsiloxanes (VMS) in the environment has raised concerns among environmental chemists and regulators about their persistence and the risks they may pose to the environment. This thesis explores the partitioning and persistence of VMS in aquatic environments. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Environmental occurrence and behaviour of the flame retardant decabromodiphenyl ethane

    Författare :Niklas Ricklund; Michael McLachlan; Amelie Kierkegaard; Adrian Covaci; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; brominated flame retardant; decabromodiphenyl ether; waste water treatment plant; mass balance; sludge; long range transport; atmospheric deposition; bioaccumulation; bioavailability; Persistent organic compounds; Persistenta organiska föreningar; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The environmental occurrence and behaviour of the brominated flame retardant (BFR) decabromodiphenyl ethane (dbdpe) has only been studied to a limited extent. It is structurally similar to decabromodiphenyl ether (decaBDE), which makes it conceivable that dbdpe may also become an environmental contaminant of concern. LÄS MER
