1. Mechanisms Underlying the Specification of Definitive Hematopoiesis
Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) maintain blood through self-renewal and differentiation. Although HSC transplantation is the only cure for various blood disorders, generating and maintaining HSCs in vitro remains challenging, partly due to a limited understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying human HSC ontogeny. 2. Leveraging Existing Microarchitectural Structures to Improve First-Level Caching Efficiency
Sammanfattning : Low-latency data access is essential for performance. To achieve this, processors use fast first-level caches combined with out-of-order execution, to decrease and hide memory access latency respectively. LÄS MER
3. A Never-Ending Thirst: Artistic Reforms to Neoliberal-Teflon Imperviousness
Sammanfattning : This text is the dissertation element of my artistic research project, A Never-Ending Thirst: Artistic Reforms to Neoliberal-Teflon Imperviousness, developed within the doctoral studies program at HDK-Valand—the Academy of Art and Design, University of Gothenburg (2016-2021). Along with documentation of twelve artistic projects that support my practice-based inquiry, this text is submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirement for the Degree of Doctor in the Fine, Applied, and Performing Arts. 4. Diet and postmenopausal breast cancer - With a focus on low-grade inflammation
Sammanfattning : Diet-breast cancer studies have shown that “healthy eating patterns” are associated with decreased risk whereas unhealthy patterns (especially those including alcohol) are associated with increased risk, particularly in postmenopausal women. The potential mechanisms behind the observed associations are still under investigation. LÄS MER
5. Novel culture systems to model testicular function and organization
Sammanfattning : In vitro systems to model the testicular microenvironment are required to study physiology and pathology of the testis, the gonadotoxic effect of environmental and pharmaceutical chemicals, as well as to explore the mechanisms ruling spermatogonial stem cell (SSC) self-renewal and differentiation. The knowledge produced in in vitro experiments, using animal, but most importantly utilizing human models, will contribute to the discovery of safe medical treatments and might provide translational tools to treat male infertility problems.
