1. Resource Allocation under Uncertainty : Applications in Mobile Communications
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with scheduling the use of resources, or allocating resources, so as to meet future demands for the entities produced by the resources. We consider applications in mobile communications such as scheduling users' transmissions so that the amount of transmitted information is maximized, and scenarios in the manufacturing industry where the task is to distribute work among production units so as to minimize the number of missed orders. 2. Cost allocation in some routing problems : a game theoretic approach
Sammanfattning : In many situations a set of decision makers have the opportunity to cooperate. In this way they may reduce the total cost for satisfying their objectives. However, the reduction of cost is often not enough to motivate cooperation. The problem of how to divide the total cost (or gain) among the decision makers must also be solved. LÄS MER
3. Optimization of Joint Cell, Channel and Power Allocation in Wireless Communication Networks
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we formulate joint cell, channel and power allocation problems within wireless communication networks. The objectives are to maximize the user with mini- mum data throughput (Shannon capacity) or to maximize the total system throughput, referred to as the max-min and max-sum problem respectively. 4. Capturing health in the elderly population : Complex health problems, mortality, and allocation of home-help services
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates health trends among very old people and the allocation of public home-help services. A further aim is to examine methodological issues in mortality analysis. LÄS MER
5. Prevention and Treatment of Externalizing Behaviour Problems in Children through Parenting Interventions : An Application of Health Economic Methods
Sammanfattning : The early onset of externalizing behaviour problems (EBP) is associated with negative outcomes later in life, such as poor mental health, substance use, crime, and unemployment. Some children also develop conduct disorder (CD), entailing a high disease and economic burden for both individuals and society. LÄS MER
