  1. 21. The role of Malassezia allergens and mast cells in atopic eczema

    Författare :Christine Selander; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Atopic eczema (AE) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease, characterized by intense itching, dry skin, infiltration of immune cells and skin lesions. To date, the cause of AE, a disease affecting 15-30% of children and 2-10% of adults, remains unknown and the pathomechanisms are not fully understood. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Human eosinophils and their activation by allergens via danger signal receptors

    Författare :Elin Redvall; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :human eosinophils; danger signals; allergen; formyl peptide receptors; CCR3; chemotaxis; degranulation; free oxygen radicals; receptor desensitization;

    Sammanfattning : Human eosinophilic granulocytes are polymorphonuclear cells with a powerful arsenal of cytotoxic substances in their granules, which are mainly found in the gastrointestinal mucosa, and the respiratory and genitourinary tracts. Their physiological role is incompletely understood, although it is likely they protect the mucosal surfaces, perhaps by recognizing danger signals present on microorganisms or released from damaged tissue. 3. 23. Epoxides as Contact Allergens - Formation, Sensitising Potency and Structure-Activity Relationships

    Författare :Ida Belogorcev Niklasson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Allergic contact dermatitis; Autoxidation; Bioactivation; Cinnamic alcohol; Diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A DGEBA ; Epoxide; Epoxy resin; Local lymph node assay; Polymerisation; Peptide reactivity; Prehapten; Prohapten; Sensitisation; Skin; Structure-Activity Relationship; Thermogravimetric Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Chemicals in our environment with which we have repeated skin contact can cause skin sensitisation (contact allergy). To trigger an immune response a compound (hapten) must be able to penetrate the skin, where it needs to be reactive enough to bind to proteins and form immunogenic complexes that are recognised as foreign. 4. 24. Exposure to indoor allergens and relation to sensitization and asthma in children

    Författare :Abdul Kashem Mohamma Munir; Ulrich Wahn; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The indoor environment plays a major role for sensitization and elicitation of allergic disease. In this thesis major allergens from house dust mite, cats and dogs were quantitated in dust samples from various indoor locations, i.e. homes of children, Day-care centers and schools. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Use of Recombinant Allergens for Component-Resolved Diagnostics (CRD) in IgE-Mediated Allergy

    Författare :Åsa Marknell DeWitt; Pia Ek; Jonas Lidholm; Ronald van Ree; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biomedical laboratory science; recombinant allergen; IgE; component-resolved diagnostics; CRD; tropomyosin; Phl p 11; Phl p 4; Pen a 1; Hev b 5; Biomedicinsk laboratorievetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated allergy occurs when our immune system causes a reaction to otherwise harmless substances (allergens). Allergens are predominantly proteins present in biological materials such as pollens, mites, animal epithelia, moulds and foods. LÄS MER
