  1. 16. Interaction mechanisms for a laser-induced metallic boiling front

    Författare :Ramiz Saeed Matti Samarjy; Alexander F.H. Kaplan; Torbjörn Ilar; Michael Schmidt; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Laser remote fusion cutting; Boiling front; High speed imaging; Additive manufacturing; Ejection; Absorption; Wavy surface; Deposition; Produktionsutveckling; Manufacturing Systems Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is about fundamental interaction mechanisms of laser remote fusion cutting, RFC, which is based on the formation of a quasi-stationary laser-induced boiling front that causes drop ejection, preferably downwards. Laser cutting of metals, invented in 1967, has developed from a niche to a well established high quality cutting technique in the manufacturing industry. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Aspects of Heat Flow in Laser Processing of Metals

    Författare :Jesper Sundqvist; Alexander F.H. Kaplan; John Powell; Andreas Otto; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Produktionsutveckling; Manufacturing Systems Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Since the laser was invented in 1960, its use in manufacturing industry has been growing rapidly. Laser processing of metals is based on the flow of heat that is generated by the absorbed laser beam. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Experimental and theoretical investigation of the laser cutting process

    Författare :Jetro Pocorni; Ali Khan; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Manufacturing Systems Engineering; Produktionsutveckling; Maskinteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns experimental investigations of laser cutting with theoretical and practical discussions of the results. The thesis is made up of three papers which are linked in such a way that each of them studies a different aspect of laser cutting: In paper I the two major laser types in cutting, namely CO2 and fiber lasers, are compared to each other by a self-defined cut efficiency.
