1. Stochastic Modeling and Management of an Emergency Call Center : A Case Study at the Swedish Emergency CallCenter Provider, SOS Alarm Sverige AB
Sammanfattning : A key task of managing an inbound call center is in estimating its performance and consequently plan its capacity, which can be considered a complex task since several system variables are stochastic. These issues are highly crucial for certain time-sensitive services, such as emergency call services. LÄS MER
2. Vem har och tar ansvar! : – I Väntan På Ambulans (IVPA)-uppdrag i Glesbygdsmiljö
Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim was to explore and describe experiences from the perspective of different actors in While Waiting for Ambulance (WWFA) assignments in a rural environment. The four studies aimed: to describe WWFA and ambulance assignments in rural environments, focusing on frequency, event time and actions of firefighters before an ambulance arrives at the scene, and to evaluate these actions (I); to describe emergency situations involving WWFA assignment in a rural environment from the caller´s perspective (II); to describe compliance with the telephone-assisted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (T-CPR) protocol, the performance of the laypersons in a simulated T-CPR situation, and the communication between laypersons and EMDs during these actions (III); to describe WWFA assignment in a rural environment from the firefighters’ and the ambulance staff’s perspective (IV). 4. Getting informed in a risky world : risk assessment, predator information & parental decisions
Sammanfattning : Predation ultimately affects the fitness of individuals. In nest building species like birds, the predation of dependent offspring is the most important source of reproductive failure, favouring the selection of parental adaptations to enhance offspring survival. LÄS MER
5. Work and Technology Use in Centers of Coordination : Reflections on the relationship between situated practice and artifact design
Sammanfattning : The research problem explored in this thesis is how technology and work practice are related in coordinative situations (collocated and over distance). Further, the problem of how this kind of research results can be transformed and used in the development of new technology is discussed. LÄS MER
