  1. 11. Regulation of PDGFRβ signaling

    Författare :Piotr Wardęga; Johan Lennartsson; Edvard Smith; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PDGF; HD-PTP; Alix; Cbl; Ub; Fer; Y857; Y771; downregulation; degradation; ubiquitination; activation loop; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) isoforms, which bind to closely related a- and b-tyrosine kinase receptors, induce migration, proliferation, survival and differentiation of mesenchymal cells. They signal by the active receptor attracting Src homology 2 (SH2) domain containing proteins, which subsequently initiate a set of signaling pathways. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Gene and protein expression in denervated atrophic and hypertrophic skeletal muscle

    Författare :Marlene Norrby; Sven Tågerud; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Skeletal muscle; Denervation; Hypertrophy; Atrophy; Gene expression; Protein expression; Protein phosphorylation; NIFK; Wnt; MK2; Akt signaling;

    Sammanfattning : Following denervation skeletal muscles change their functional and structural properties. Some changes resemble conditions in developing muscles and may be important for reinnervation. Due to inactivity following denervation most skeletal muscles loose muscle mass and become atrophic. 3. 13. Tissue Factor Biological Functions : Coagulation Activity in Microparticles and Signaling with Focus On Migration and Apoptosis

    Författare :Mikael Åberg; Agneta Siegbahn; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Teet Velling; Björn Dahlbäck; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tissue factor; Apoptosis; Migration; Chemotaxis; Simvastatin; Platelet Derived Growth Factor; Cell Signaling; Microparticles; Prostasomes; Trombosis; Coagulation; Prostate Cancer; Breast Cancer; Caspase-3; Caspase-8; NFkappaB; PAR2; Transactivation; Monocytes; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Tissue factor (TF) is a 47 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein known as the main initiator of blood coagulation. TF is over-expressed on many malignant cells and apart from increasing the risk of thrombosis, the presence of TF/FVIIa also promotes the progression of cancer and metastasis by intracellular signaling. 4. 14. Investigating the role of Class-1 Phosphoinositide 3 Kinases (PI3Ks) in insulin signaling and obesity

    Författare :Angela Molinaro; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obesity; insulin signaling; PI3Ks; PI3K isoform-selective inhibitors;

    Sammanfattning : Obesity and obesity related diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, and different types of cancer are leading causes of mortality and morbidity in modern society. However, the mechanism that links obesity to these diseases remains largely unresolved. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Radiation response in human cells : DNA damage formation, repair and signaling

    Författare :Ann-Sofie Gustafsson; Bo Stenerlöw; Andrzej Wojcik; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DNA damage; DNA repair; DSB; NHEJ; DNA-PK; ionizing radiation; heat-labile sites; Biomedical Radiation Science; Biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Ionizing radiation induces a range of different DNA lesions. In terms of mutation frequency and mammalian cell survival, the most critical of these lesions is the DNA double-strand break (DSB). DSB left unrepaired or mis-repaired may result in chromosomal aberrations that can lead to permanent genetic changes or cell death. LÄS MER
