    Sammanfattning : Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a material with many useful properties. It is used most widely as a pigment in white paint, although in technological research it is better known for its ability to catalyze chemical reactions during light absorption. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The indoor environment in schools : Respiratory effects and air quality

    Författare :Greta Smedje; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Allergy; asthma; cat allergen; cleaning; dust; formaldehyde; furniture; mould; schoolchildren; ventilation; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; arbets- och miljömedicin; Occupational and Environmental Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : The main objective of this work was to investigate relationships between the schoolenvironment and asthma and asthmatic symptoms in schoolchildren. Data on symptoms werecollected through postal questionnaires answered by 1,732 pupils in 39 randomly selectedschools, and were related to data on exposures obtained through hygienic measurements in theschools. 4. 4. Photocatalysis for Indoor Air Cleaning : In situ FTIR and DFT Study of Acetaldehyde Photo-Oxidation on TiO2 and Sulfate-Modified TiO2

    Författare :Bozhidar Stefanov; Lars Österlund; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Acetaldehyde is among the group of VOC’s causing the so-called "sick building" syndrome. WHO has estimated that this problem, related to the indoor air-quality, affects one third of all buildings worldwide. TiO2 is an attractive material for the photocatalytic removal of VOC’s in the indoor environment. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Performance-based design of ventilation systems. Potential and limitations regarding indoor air quality

    Författare :Ragib Kadribegovic; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ventilation; prescriptive design; indoor air quality; air cleaning; energy efficiency; performance-based design; recirculation;

    Sammanfattning : It has been increasingly common to design for increased ventilation rates above legislative requirements specified in building codes and other norms as the most optimum way to improve indoor air quality. However, this concept has recently been challenged, for example, by studies demonstrating that the emissions or pollution from used traditional particle filters increases proportionally with air flow through the filter.
