  1. 1. Bolivian creole cattle: population structure, genetic diversity and management practices

    Författare :Gabriela Bottani; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Characterization studies of local livestock breeds are important to identify their potential and value for the Global Animal Genetic Resources. Important traits have been attributed to local breeds including adaptability and resilience to harsh environments and other traits with potential use in breeding schemes oriented towards the challenges of climate change. 2. 2. Production and engineering of a xyloglucan endo-transglycosylase from Populus tremula x tremuloides

    Författare :Maria Henriksson; Tuula Teeri; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; xyloglucan endo-transglycosylase; retaining glycoside hydrolase; glycosynthase; Pichia pastoris; fed-batch fermentation; expanded-bed adsorption; Plant biotechnology; Växtbioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this work was to develop a production process for the enzyme xyloglucan endo-transglycosylase from Populus tremula x tremuloides (PttXET16-34). The natural transglycosylating activity of this enzyme has previously been employed in a XET-Technology. LÄS MER

  3. 3. From Betterment to Bt maize : agricultural development and the introduction of genetically modified maize to South African smallholders

    Författare :Klara Fischer; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Agriculture has received renewed attention in poverty reduction efforts in Africa in recent years, and there are hopes that GM crops could have an important role in helping increase smallholder yields and reduce poverty. Drawing on critical discourse analysis (CDA) and livelihoods perspectives, this thesis examines the ideas governing the Massive Food Production Programme (MFPP), an agricultural development programme aiming to reduce poverty by raising agricultural production in Eastern Cape Province, South Africa, and its local effects when implemented in smallholder communities. Sammanfattning : The forest constitutes a very important element of renewable natural resources and makes a significant contribution to the Swedish bioeconomy. Biofuels are Sweden’s largest source of energy; of all the energy we use, 32% comes from biofuels, and of this approximately 85% comes from the forest and the forestry sector. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Sustainable Land and Water Management for a Greener Future : Large-scale insights in support of Agroecological Intensification

    Författare :Luigi Piemontese; Fernando Jaramillo; Maria Cristina Rulli; Stockholms universitet; []
