  1. 1. Incidentally detected adrenal lesions - radiological aspects

    Författare :Lilian Hammarstedt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Incidental finding; Adrenal incidentaloma; Adrenal Gland Neoplasm; Computed Tomography; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Follow-up Studies; Oncology; Observer variation; Phantom Studies;

    Sammanfattning : Incidentally detected adrenal lesions (“adrenal incidentalomas”) have become a growing clinical problem due to increased and refined radiology methods. Autopsy studies show frequencies as high as 7-8% in the elderly. A large part of such lesions give no health problems but some can be related to hormone overproduction or malignant disease. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Incidentally discovered adrenal tumours, adrenal metastases and pheochromocytomas - Clinical and epidemiological aspects

    Författare :Andreas Muth; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Incidental Findings; Adrenal incidentaloma; Adrenal Gland Neoplasms; Adrenalectomy; Follow-Up Studies; Quality of Life; Pheochromocytoma epidemiology; Pheochromocytoma genetics; Paraganglioma epidemiology; Paraganglioma genetics;

    Sammanfattning : With increasing use of high resolution radiological imaging incidentally discovered adrenal tumours (adrenal incidentalomas, AI) have become a common clinical problem. The aim of work-up and follow-up of patients with AI is to detect malignant (primary or metastatic) and/or hormone-producing tumours. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Clinical aspects of Adrenalectomy

    Författare :Lo Hallin Thompson; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adrenalectomy; Adrenal tumour; Adrenal surgery; Adrenal incidentaloma; Health Related Quality of Life; Quality register;

    Sammanfattning : Annual rates of adrenalectomy have doubled in the last 20 years as a consequence of increased detection of adrenal incidentalomas, improved biochemical diagnosis, genetic screening, and minimally invasive surgical techniques. Most adrenal incidentalomas are benign non-functional adrenocortical adenomas. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Autonomous cortisol secretion – Mortality, morbidity and diagnostics

    Författare :Albin Kjellbom; Lund Medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adrenal incidentaloma AI ; Adrenal adenoma; Cortisol; autonomous cortisol secretion ACS ; Mortality;

    Sammanfattning : ContextUp to half of patients with adrenal adenomas found as incidentalomas show biochemical signs of subtle cortisol hypersecretion without having clinical signs or symptoms of Cushing’s syndrome. A condition called autonomous cortisol secretion (ACS). Previous studies have indicated that ACS might be associated with increased mortality. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Functional and diagnostic aspects on adrenocortical adenoma

    Författare :Ulla Enberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Adrenocortical tumours are frequently detected due to increased use of imaging techniques like computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging or ultrasound. The majority of the patients have tumours that do not have any overproduction of hormone. LÄS MER
