  1. 1. CTA1-DD; A novel vaccine adjuvant system based on ADP-ribosyltransferase activity and B cell targeting

    Författare :Lena Ågren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cholera toxin; ADP-ribosyltransferase activity; adjuvant; vaccine; B cells; targeting;

    Sammanfattning : The ADP-ribosylating enterotoxins, cholera toxin (CT) and E. coli heat-labile toxin (LT) are among the most powerful immunogens and adjuvants yet described. An innate problem, though, is their strong toxic effects, largely due to their promiscuous binding to all nucleated cells via their B-subunits. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Microarray analyses of the small intestinal mucosa during experimental and clinical cholera

    Författare :Carl-Fredrik Flach; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Vibrio cholerae; cholera toxin; microarray; transporter; intraepithelial lymphocytes; innate defence;

    Sammanfattning : Vibrio cholerae is a Gram-negative bacterium and the causative agent of cholera. The bacteria infect humans via contaminated water and food, and colonize the upper parts of the small intestine to cause disease. The disease is characterized by watery diarrhoea and most of its clinical features can be attributed to the secreted cholera toxin (CT). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Bacterial toxins for cancer treatment

    Författare :David Johansson; Parviz Behnam-Motlagh; Kjell Grankvist; Anders Johansson; Roger Henriksson; Bo Baldetorp; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alpha‐toxin; AC‐toxin; mesothelioma; lung cancer; glioma; breast cancer; caspases; MAP-Kinase; verotoxin‐1; cisplatin; apoptosis; Gb3; drug resistance; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Even though anti‐cancer chemotherapy has been continuously improved during the last decades. problems with adverse effects and drug resistance still constitutes a considerable obstacle and sets a demand for new effective treatment options. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On inflammatory cytokines and β-amyloid peptides in acute and chronic neurodegeneration

    Författare :Roya Tehranian; Gianluigi Forloni; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Inflammation; Cytokines; Amyloid; Peptides; Nerve degeneration; Neurochemistry and Neurotoxicology; neurokemi och neurotoxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : Insults to the brain as well as neurodegenerative diseases are known to elicit inflammatory responses. Inflammation in the brain can on one hand initiate processes that are harmful to the injured tissue and exacerbate the damage, leading to neuronal degeneration and glial activation, and on the other hand activate processes that may be necessary for repair mechanisms and regeneration. 5. 5. Dopamine D2 receptor G protein coupling and it's regulation

    Författare :Anton Terasmaa; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Dopamine; D2 receptor; G protein; supersensitivity; 6-hydroxydopamine; [3 S]GTP-gamma-S; radioligand binding;

    Sammanfattning : Dopamine (DA) receptors belong to the superfamily of G protein coupled receptors. The D2 DA receptor is negatively coupled with adenylate cyclase via pertussis toxin sensitive (Gi/o) G proteins. LÄS MER
