  1. 16. Daphnids adaptive strategies to UV radiation

    Författare :Carla Eloisa Fernández; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :Cladocera; Zooplankton; Andean lakes; Daphnia; Ultraviolet radiation; Migration strategy; Photo-protection;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the adaptive strategies of daphnids that allows them to maintain stable populations while deal with UV radiation, highlighting the differences in the responses that populations with different evolutionary histories may have.Although exposition to lethal doses in nature is unlikely, sub-lethal UV-B radiation doses may have strong impacts on zooplankton. 2. 17. Evolving identities: Contents and processes of identity development among people in their late twenties

    Författare :Johanna Carlsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; identity development; identity processes; identity contents; emerging adulthood; young adulthood; parenthood; work family priorities;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to study contents and processes of identity development among people in their late twenties. The studies are based on identity status interviews and surveys performed with participants in the GoLD (Gothenburg Longitudinal study of Development), at ages 25 and 29. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Staging urban emergence through collective creativity: Devising an outdoor mobile augmented reality tool

    Författare :Hyekyung Imottesjo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Urban Rules; Emergent processes; outdoor mobile augmented reality; Compact city; Complex adaptive systems; Urban resilience; collaborative design; research-through-design;

    Sammanfattning : The unpredictability of global geopolitical conflicts, economic trends, and impacts of climate change, coupled with an increasing urban population, necessitates a more profound commitment to resilience thinking in urban planning and design. In contrast to top-down planning and designing for sustainability, allowing for emergence to take place seems to contribute to a capacity to better deal with this complex unpredictability, by allowing incremental changes through bottom-up, self-organized adaptation made by diverse actors in the proximity of various social, economical and functional entities in the urban context. 4. 19. Pollination processes - maternal and offspring performance

    Författare :Kristina Holmén Bränn; Kari Lehtilä; Pia Mutikainen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pollination; Sinapis arvensis; Brassica napus; Raphanus raphanistrum; Succisa pratensis; Evolution of flower size; Maternal plant responses; Resource allocation; Reproductive success; Terrestrial ecology; Terrestisk ekologi; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Pollination is one of the most important factors determining the reproductive success of plants. This thesis examines processes associated to varying pollination, with focus on plant responses. The first aim was to examine the possibility and constraints for short-term evolution of flower size in Raphanus raphanistrum. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Modelling Aspects of Wastewater Treatment Processes

    Författare :Ulf Jeppsson; Industriell elektroteknik och automation; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Automatiska system; control engineering; robotics; Automation; thickening; solids flux; simulation; secondary clarifier; protozoa; predators; parameter estimation; model reduction; model identifiability; mathematical modelling; clarification; biofilm; activated sludge; robotteknik; reglerteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Wastewater treatment processes are inherently dynamic because of the large variations in the influent wastewater flow rate, concentration and composition. Moreover, these variations are to a large extent not possible to control. LÄS MER
