  1. 6. Epidemiology of heart failure and feasibility of home care in patients with worsening chronic heart failure

    Författare :Masoud Shafazand; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Chronic heart failure; mortality; deterioration; hospitalisation; gender; home care; quality-adjusted life years; emergency care; health care costs; ischaemic; non-ischaemic; health-related quality of life; conventional care; acute myocardial infarction; coronary heart disease; heart failure;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: To investigate gender-specific trends in long-term mortality in patients hospitalised for ischaemic and non-ischaemic heart failure (HF) and explore temporal trends in the risk of HF complicating acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Another aim is to characterise patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) that seek an emergency department (ED) because of their deteriorating condition and evaluate the feasibility of home care (HC) in comparison with conventional care (CC) in patients with worsening CHF. Sammanfattning : The overall aim of thesis was to explore frail older people’s experiences of receiving healthcare and/or social services and to investigate healthcare consumption and costs in both men and women and in different age groups in the two years prior to the introduction of long-term municipal care. 4. 9. ICU prognostication: Time to re-evaluate? Register-based studies on improving prognostication for patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU)

    Författare :Peder Andersson; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Intensive Care; Critical Care; Mortality; Cerebral Performance Category; Cardiac arrest; Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest; Sepsis; Lactate; Troponin; Neuron-specific enolase; Neurofilament light; Age; Elderly; Prognostication; Prediction; Scoring system; Neural net; Artificial neural network; Deep learning; Artificial intelligence;

    Sammanfattning : Background: ICU prognostication is difficult because of patients’ prior comorbidities and their varied reasons for admission. The model used for ICU prognostication in Sweden is the Simplified Acute Physiology Score 3 (SAPS 3), which uses information gathered within one hour of ICU admission to predict 30-day mortality. 5. 10. The epidemiology of risk factors and short- and long-term outcome in the Swedish intensive care cohort

    Författare :Björn Ahlström; Miklós Lipcsey; Ing-Marie Larsson; Gunnar Strandberg; Markus Skrifvars; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Intensive care; Intensive care unit; Sepsis; Covid-19; Epidemiology; Dementia; Mortality; Causes of death; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Sammanfattning : The sepsis syndrome is present in ¼ to ⅓ of patients in intensive care units (ICUs) worldwide. The short-term prognosis is grim, with a 30-day mortality of 30–35%; however, the long- term outcomes are now being explored, as multi-professional follow-up after ICU care is increasingly being implemented.
