    Författare :Ingrid Thörn; Christer Sundström; Richard Rosenquist; Gisela Barbany; Johan Botling; Kjeld Schmiegelow; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia; minimal residual disease; IG TCR gene rearrangements; BCR-ABL1 fusion gene transcripts; real-time quantitative PCR; multicolor flow cytometry; Pathology; Patologi; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Traditionally, response to treatment in hematological malignancies is evaluated by light microscopy of bone marrow (BM) smears, but due to more effective therapies more sensitive methods are needed. Today, detection of minimal residual disease (MRD) using immunological and molecular techniques can be 100 times more sensitive than morphology. LÄS MER

    Författare :Yanara Marincevic-Zuniga; Ann-Christine Syvänen; Caroline Heckman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute lymphoblastic leukemia ALL ; 450k array; DNA methylation; RNA-sequencing; linked-read WGS; B-other; fusion gene; chromosomal translocation; Medicinsk genetik; Medical Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common pediatric cancer in the Nordic countries. Structural chromosomal rearrangements are a hallmark of ALL and represent key markers for diagnosis, risk stratification and prognosis. LÄS MER

  3. 13. IKAROS and LEUKEMIA

    Författare :Linda Olsson; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia; relapse; risk-stratifying factors; IKZF1; cooperative changes;

    Sammanfattning : Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is characterized by an accumulation of immature lymphoid cells in the bone marrow and is the most common cancer type in children. It is an immunophenotypically, morphologically, clinically, and genetically heterogeneous disorder that comprises several distinct subtypes. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Molecular Interrogation and Functional Studies of Acute Leukemia

    Författare :Axel Hyrenius Wittsten; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute leukemia; KMT2A; Cooperating Lesions; Clonal Relationship; Genomic Profiling; Fusion Genes;

    Sammanfattning : Hematological malignancies are defined by their underlying genetic alterations, many of which are used to diagnose patients to classify them to different risk groups that dictate the therapy given. Recent advances in high-throughput sequencing have highlighted the presence of co-occurring genetic lesions and that they may form distinct genetic clones that evolve throughout disease progression. 5. 15. Gene Expression Studies of Hematologic Malignacies

    Författare :Anna Andersson; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellular fluids; Haematology; cancer; onkologi; Cytologi; oncology; Cytology; acute myeloid leukemia; acute lymphoblastic leukemia; normal hematopoietic cells; cDNA microarray; gene expression profiling; hematopoiesis; pediatric leukemia; fusion gene; Pediatrics; Pediatri; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; cancerology; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis was to characterize hematologic malignancies using gene expression profiling in order to obtain an improved classification and to study deregulated transcriptional networks in leukemia. In the first study (Article I), the gene expression profiles of hematologic cell lines were analyzed to investigate whether such cell lines maintain expression profiles that are characteristic of their primary genetic changes.
