11. Interactions Between Water and Cellulose Esters
Sammanfattning : Biopolymers, which are produced from natural sources, are gaining interest as a potential replacement for fossil-based polymers. As such, they are already widely used in several industries, including the food, healthcare, and personal care industries. LÄS MER
12. Bioelectrochemical Applications of Reactions Catalyzed by Immobilized Enzymes
Sammanfattning : The sensitivity of biosensors can be increased substantially by incorporation in a substrate recycling scheme. Based on the amplification of NAD+/NADH by the recycling reaction catalyzed by glycerol dehydrogenase (GDH) and diaphorase, NAD+/NADH can be determined amperometrically with around 1000 times higher sensitivity than for the substrate sensing mode. 13. Asymmetric transformation of ß- and γ-functionalized alcohols : Study of combined ruthenium-catalyzed racemization and enzymatic resolution
Sammanfattning : The major part of this thesis describes the asymmetric synthesis of β- and γ-amino alcohols through the combination of ruthenium catalyzed racemization and enzymatic kinetic resolution. The dynamic kinetic resolution, DKR, protocol for chlorohydrins was improved by employing Bäckvall’s catalyst, which is a base activated racemization catalyst, in combination with Burkholderia cepacia lipase. 14. Catalytic Incineration of CO and VOC Emissions over Supported Metal Oxide Catalysts
Sammanfattning : Catalytic incineration is one of the methods to reduce the emissions of CO and VOCs. Low operation temperature and low catalyst cost are essential parameters for catalytic incinerators. Pt/Al2O3 catalysts are frequently used today, but the cheaper metal oxide catalysts can be very competitive if comparable overall activity is obtained. LÄS MER
15. Atmospheric Corrosion of Lead. The Influence of Organic acid Vapours and Inorganic Air Pollutants. A contribution Towards Understanding the Environmental Degradation of Historic Organ Pipes
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents different perspectives on the atmospheric corrosion of lead, aiming at a better understanding of the environmental degradation of historical organ pipes. Corroded organ pipes from the field have been analyzed and the environment inside the organ wind system has been mapped. LÄS MER
