Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis is to investigate the synthesis of well-defined polymer nanohybrid materials bearing desirable functionality via surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (SI-ATRP) for potential bioapplications.SI-ATRP is an excellent controlled radical polymerization (CRP) method for the synthesis of polymer nanohybrid by growing polymer brushes (chains) from an interface, which allows precise control over polymer composition, topology, and functionality. 3. From Responsive Interfaces to Honeycomb Membranes by Controlled Radical Polymerisation
Sammanfattning : In this study, surface modification of both organic and inorganic substrates (in terms of cellulose and silica nanoparticles, respectively) has been explored using surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerisation (ATRP). The desire to modify bio-based materials to fit into new application areas and the need for bio-based materials with improved material properties is steadily increasing due to environmental concern. 4. Polyhydroxyl and Polyphosphorylcholine functionalized Silica for Hydrophilic interaction liquid Chromatography- Synthesis, characterization and application
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the development of new stationary phases for use in hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography using TRIS-based and phosphorylcholine typed monomers and porous silica particles as starting substrates. In this thesis, several ways of polymerizing highly hydrophilic monomers onto pore surfaces of silica supports are described, based on several “grafting from” schemes. LÄS MER
