21. Regulation of normal and cancer cells as a base for cell cycle-targeted therapy
Sammanfattning : The majority of current treatments used for treatment of prostate cancer (PCa) and leukemia are often limited to a narrow subsets of treated patients. As such, there still remains a significant scope for gaining deeper understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying cancer metastasis for improvement of targeted treatment. LÄS MER
22. Type 2 Cystatins. Studies on the role of the major cystatin, cystatin C, in mice and on properties and distribution of the novel human cystatins F, G, H and I
Sammanfattning : The aim the thesis work was to study the human cystatins C, E/M, F, G, H and I both in vivo and in vitro. A mouse devoid of cystatin C was used for the cystatin C studies. The levels of cystatins C, E/M and F were measured in pleural effusion samples of patients with various lung disorders. LÄS MER
23. Identification and Functional Significance of Aberrant Long Non-coding RNAs in Acute Myeloid Leukemia : Biological and Prognostic Implications
Sammanfattning : Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is the most frequently diagnosed type of acute leukemia in adults. It commonly affects people aged 60 or older, as incidence increases with age, and it is characterized by the accumulation of immature hematopoietic progenitor cells in the bone marrow. LÄS MER
24. The G-protein coupled receptor CMKLR1/ChemR23: Studies on gene regulation, receptor ligand activation, and HIV/SIV co-receptor function
Sammanfattning : In all higher organisms, there is a need for intercellular communication. G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs), located on the cell surface, play an important role in this communication. Cells synthesize and release signalling molecules (ligands), which produce a specific response only in those cells that have a receptor for that ligand. LÄS MER
25. Chronic Achilles tendon rupture - surgical reconstruction and post-operative outcomes
Sammanfattning : When the treatment of Achilles tendon ruptures is delayed by more than 4 weeks, the rupture is classified as chronic. This thesis aims to examine the postoperative outcome of chronic Achilles tendon ruptures treated surgically in terms of long-term functional outcomes, patient-reported outcome measurements, biomolecular changes, and economic cost.
